Watching Inside Out 2 with my kid and had this progression of takes:

1. Rylee has a crush on Val.
2. Val also has a crush on Rylee.
3. Oh wait, that’s probably not great, Val is too old for someone literally going through puberty.
4. They both preoccupied with what they represent to each other.

One time someone called me, “An architect of ideas.”

I’m only reasonably confident I could explain what was originally meant by that, but in many ways it’s the thing I’m good at.

I make things function, coherently when possible. I synthesize elements into something material.
Artists, I think we're all too comfortable sharing our imposter syndrome.

I would love to see you step out of your comfort zone and confidently state what you think you're actually really good at.

No self deprecation, just what you think you're the strongest at

Is anyone brave eniough? 👀

Today is a 2 episode drop doing character building in CCK with @zadkielingreen.bsky.social then @call_me_they and @robbrolling.bsky.social.

Character gen in this is a blast and doesn't require a bunch of math or risks making a bad choice. It's procedural and focused on backstory with

I don't like sharing listener numbers for the podcast but I do love a good metric.

Bri and I looked at some listener numbers from last year (our first calendar year) and what jumped out at me is the ratio between ep 1 listeners and recent episode listeners is close to 50%

What's that mean to me?

I’ve been in the early stages of recapping Season 1 for a few weeks so it’s easier to jump on.

But folks, Season 2 is looking like a great season. We’re going to be doing our thing along side it, but we’re also doing the thing most people do with games.

This is unexpectedly exciting to me.
The gamewoven-curious and will be a bit of a slow burn as we assemble the pieces of a Grand Campaign style serial using Cosmic Century Knights by @oneshotrpg.bsky.social and Andrew mierzejewski. It's starts with character creation, then group worldbuilding, then play - and it's all super fun.

Sometimes I feel like an alien for wanting to jump past the uncertainty of what a thing is and get into what you do with it.

I’ve seen this several times and it’s maybe the most effective piece of advertising to me specifically for how it hands off a solid premise about the bit I want to play with.
I have had some people ask if All's Fair is a game that plays with sexual tension

Thought I had today:

The original intent of the 2A was to work as a sort of equalizer, to allow the weak to punch back against the powerful.

In the US, gun culture and violence exists in the broad strokes to let the insecure pick on those weaker than them.

My dad was stocking up on canned and dry goods throughout ‘98 and ‘99 because he was worried about The Millennium Bug. I was 7 and didn’t really know it at the time, but he was basically right to do so and his preparism was motivated by the material prospects, not political paranoia.
Without revealing your actual age, what's something you remember that if you told a younger person they wouldn't understand?

As we prep for Season 2, I’ve been thinking a lot about how to recap season 1 of @gamewoven.bsky.social, an interconnected anthology of one shots that operate on very different time, territorial, and narrative scales.

I also just read a thing about how Ancient Egypt did archeology on themselves*.

Fun thing, if you break into his desk in a private study, there’s several volumes of unpublished poems called The Verse of Strahd. They’re bad. Not even unspeakably bad, just the usual kind of bad. His life of privilege has left him with nothing to say.
Gone in 60 Seconds riff set in Barovia where y’all are trying to steal the Hurst of Strahd.
Blades in the Dark mini campaign where you’re robbing Castle Ravenloft.

Call it The Purse of Strahd

Circum Curre is canonically a bottom, which is a very funny thing to know given how little Gamewoven engages with sex directly. He’s bi as well, for what that’s worth, and it’s in his backstory that may never actually come up, but is in my head.

Little unicorn.
Full of smiles, laughter and joy.
Growing up too fast.

This almost had to be about a direct family member for me. Lol. Outside of direct family?

Theater cleaner,
The show is done, yet we sit.
After credits time!

I called this “The Orville Peck Principle.“

I did not get on the Internet one day explicitly looking for a masked queer cowboy to start crooning at me, but guess what? It was exactly what I fucking needed.
Were 90s kids clamoring for a Batman cartoon with 1930s Art Deco aesthetics? Is that what the market demanded? Or did some really smart creative people have a vision and make a genre-defining hit that sustained 20 years of TV shows? If you want success look for vision, not just metrics.

TTRPG character feature pitch: The Debt of Fortune

Your character has Fortune (a supernatural entity or conceptual force as genera appropriate).

1. You have terrible luck at games of chance. As fits the mechanics of your game, you lose about twice as often as you should…

“Cats in the Cradle,” “Slip Sliding Away,” and “Glory Days” are horror stories to me. They’re songs about people who left their best days behind them.

“Thunder Road” is a hopeful song. About going and grabbing the good days ahead. I hope to never need a Thunder Road, but life happens.
Time is a thief who leaves presents behind, exchanging an old thing for something new. It leaves the memories of old delights but clears the way for new ones. I grow old, and have had more joy than sorrow. I clutch my new wonders and let my old ones fly. Their time is passed but the light remains.
