NEW: The rapid collapse of the Assad regime in Syria – a regime that the Kremlin helped prop up since 2015 – is a strategic political defeat for Moscow and has thrown the Kremlin into a crisis as it seeks to retain its strategic military basing in Syria.

The 2,000 year old Octagon Earthworks in Newark Ohio are one of the few remaining fragments of the once sprawling Hopewell Ceremonial Mound Complex.

Thankfully with the sites recent admittance to UNESCO, the golf course will finally be removed in January of 2025.

Big steps in the right direction!

Had the pleasure and honor of working today at Great Circle Earthworks with none other than THE Dr. Brad Lepper.

Dr. Lepper is one of the premier researchers in the mound building cultures of North America and is the manager of archaeology at the Ohio History Connection.

One annoying thing about historical research is looking up how long it took to get from A to B in the US by train in 1880 and then looking it up now and realizing it was faster in 1880.
