To the person who has spent the past three weeks trying to get into every and any online account I own... Reach out, I'd like to talk. You have my Google Voice number and my email address. I tried calling back the number you originally tried phishing me from but it's disconnected

Until the user of bsky.app appview can choose which verifiers they want to follow this is still Bluesky LLC centralizing the authority of who is a valid verifier.

I get this is an early attempt, but that feels like it should have been part of the day one rollout. Centralized until proven otherwise.

You're taking public marketing speak a bit too literally. Anyone can publish a verification record, its just our app chooses to display them just from a specific set of accounts for now.

I finally got kicked off the #Discord experiment that disabled the new UI, so I wrote a #Vencord theme to restore it

So if I understand this correctly, the security of this hinges on the users ability to be a good custodian of their private keys? Interesting project but unfortunately I don't see how it really solves for decentralized identity if it has the same Achilles heel as PGP or blockchain wallets
"people are good at managing private keys" is NOT the message you should be taking from the blockchain landscape

As we get closer to the new year, I find myself progressively less interested in using this platform as a result of the changing vibes.

If you followed me to see the stuff I'm working on, I post most everything to Github. Otherwise no foul if you unfollow, I would.

that prompts are a set of value sinks in a vast matrix manipulated by an intricate machine is still impressive to me. somehow i want to liken it to biology, like prompts are gene expressions. might be the edible tho

What you're referring to as Bluesky, is in fact, ATProto/Bluesky, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Bluesky on ATProto.

Bluesky is not a social network unto itself, but rather another app view, made useful by the PDS servers and relays, comprising a federated network as defined by ATProto.

It never stops to amaze me how many folks tell me they can't consider moving away from React because [ other thing ] isn't "production ready" while in the middle of death march to port to whatever the untested new hotness is (CSS-in-JS, function components, the dozenth router, RSC, ISR, etc. etc.)

I have Detroit: Become Capitalism. No real expectations but it doesn't hurt to try. I've put off doing this for years because I didn't feel comfortable with it, but life isn't getting any cheaper 😔👍

You carefully craft each character of your post, considering the importance of each word and how it will be received.

I write some bullshit and smash the post button, and then immediately afterward realize I made really silly typos & grammar errors because I didn't proofread it

We are not the same

I really like the threaded view option for post threads, but I wished it was more readable, so I've created a userscript that applies CSS to add unique colors to each level of the indentation, similar to the "Rainbow Indentation" extension/setting in VSCode. Install with Tampermonkey/Greasemonkey

the solution to atproto decentralization is to stop whining to bluesky pbc about how they need to decentralize and to instead start putting in the work of hosting alternative servers, owning your rotation keys, creating uis to make this easy for people, and host your own data

I just found this setting, thank you to whoever made this happen. Please don't take it away

The way threading is done currently is confusing, you have to go digging to find the full context and it makes it too easy to miss entire sub-threads

In light of our rapid growth, I decided to do a small experiment to compare the size of the Bluesky community to the Mastodon community

At the time of writing, Bluesky has ~19.4 million registered users, where Mastodon has ~5.6 million registered users

1/4 - See next post for my methodology
