People took averages? Maaaaaaan. If it's 16d6, I *so want* to get my hands around 16 dice.

That's so weird, I remember that too.

We really can't win for losing, can we? Maybe if we tried not being stupid, as a nation. That'd be a good first step.

The bit here is Jamelle posted this a few days ago, and people are big mad. As you say, he does both, and being published in the NYT has a *bit* more reach and impact than the average social media post

The implication was that he's insecure about his height and compensates by trying to be 'masculine' (but is just an asshole)

I've been using it on git repos transparently; for the git users, it creates pretty normal commits and bookmarks equate to branches. One thing to watch for is lack of LFS support (I've been working around it)

This has carried on in my career. I often work through problems better and remember what my thoughts were, writing them down, as opposed to typing. And I'm as native as they come, I was typing and using the computer on DOS at age 2 or 3 (2/2)

It was the weirdest thing for me in college; my handwriting isn't pretty, and I'm not much of an essay writer. But I think writing blue book exams was some of my best, most direct writing, and given everyone knows you wrote it in a class period, nobody is looking for perfect writing. (1/2)

FWIW the current Instant Pot Brands company is probably not who you bought yours from; after PE bled it dry Instant Brands filed bankruptcy in 2023 and it was spun out as a standalone company under new ownership in 2024. Typical enshittification.

Instant Pot, now a stand-alone company, appoints new leadership
Under different ownership after last year’s bankruptcy, the popular multicooker is no longer part of the appliance conglomerate that owns Pyrex and Corelle.

Just the stupidest worst way to abdicate hegemony. Even if we should... And I'm not fully convinced that's a better world.

The issue is that the way to break hegemony over the global south isn't to weaken the US - it's to strengthen the nations in the south. Weakening the US merely leaves the south to be victimized by another hegemon - and China has already been trying to gain dominance there
