I was so excited for the Mighty Nein (and I'm enjoying it so far, to be fair!), but there's so many reminders of things that influenced the Fate DND game that it makes me a little sad.
Like those memories are still good memories, but they're also bittersweet now

A little thing that works for me, maybe it can work for you, is that Black Friday week is also "Focused Unsubscribing Week". EVERY company that ever got you on their mailing list will send an email this week. Make an intention as you enter the week to unsub, not just ignore, to anyone you're over.

The thing with books is that there's literally already a free way to read them where people get paid.
There is NO excuse to pirate unless you have no library, and libraries, thankfully, still largely exist somehow.
It legitimizes both the book AND the library system. It's a no-loss scenario.

Video games don't work like that, movies don't work like that, TV doesn't work like that (at least not in the same way, residuals work differently there). But books/comics? If you pirate a book you are straight up taking money out of the author/artist's pocket, every time.

While I was at my first library job after grad school, my boss saw me sewing and went "hey, have you considered volunteering with a theater?" It took a couple of years to actually consider a career in this seriously but now I've been in this field longer than I was a librarian.

Turns out poor people spent a lot of money on tea and sugar *because they were poor* and that was their inadequate replacement for unaffordable things like cooking fuel, food with actual nutritional content, and enough calories to slave away over a loom for 12 hours.
