Had a great thanksgiving with friends who are in town and today we're going to see Zootopia 2 and then going to Microcenter afterwards.

Is it legal to pack so much awesome into one day? :)

One thing I just can't understand is Discord servers with almost no message traffic and under twenty people in them, but have like thirty channels. Like, why?

I washed my car this weekend only for new kitty paw prints to show up today.

I give up. My car is anointed now.

The best part about having a Microcenter in town is not having to give Jeff Bezos money for computer-related purchases anymore.

Coworker: Do anything cool this weekend?

Me: Eh, not really. It was a quiet one. Got some housework done.

Thinking back to when I was a kid, like.. 9-10 years old, my mom never bought photo film unless I begged her to. If I hadn't been so obsessive about bugging her for film I'd have almost no photos from my youth.

☑️Heat - FUCK YES
☑️Oxygen - FUCKING HELL YES
☑️Fuel - OH HEEEEELLLL TO THE FUCKING YES

🔥🔥🔥 LET'S DO THIS 🔥🔥🔥
There is a post circulating on Bluesky encouraging the moving of a frozen turkey straight into a pot of hot oil. We are combating this misinformation the best way we know how - through the power of dance music.

DoubleSpace was wild.

It took your ENTIRE hard drive's contents and copied it to a single compressed disk image file.

It would then rename your C: drive to something like F: and mount the image as the new C:.

It DID let you cram more data on your disk, but at the cost of some performance.
I would do anything for DOS, but I won't do that.

Remember that you don't have to use Chrome. I sure as fuck don't.

- Firefox
- LibreWolf
- Safari (for Mac folks)

The alternatives are there. Use them, the more of us stop using Chrome, the less of a hold they have.
google is angry that they're still in business and they're gonna punish us all for it

when you turn this shit off, it deletes all your tabs off the top. the ones that were there before they installed the stupid ai bullshit. instead its replaced with a thing bitching you out to turn the ai back on
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

They finally release updates to Fallout 4 but haven't fixed the insanely long load times.

There's no excuse for a ten year old game to have 2+ minute load times between areas!

I'm giving up on it again. :/

Cleaning out my retired boss' office and I found what seems to be VAX/VMS source listings on freaking microfiche.

Anyone else dislike the commercial architectural trend towards leaving ceilings open with no acoustic tile grid?

Makes for much noisier buildings that feel less cozy. :(

Anyone else ever catch yourself saying pure nonsense to your cat?

I literally just said the sentence "Aww Annie you're a kitty, look at your face it's a kitty face!" out loud.

Then I realized what I just said and was like.. "seriously? cats are like brain drugs."

Dear Microsoft: How is it that you made Remote Desktop for Windows one of the best networked GUI experiences ever, while screwing up so much else?

It's like the one thing I have to rave about with Windows, because it works so well and so lightweight.

Conversely, why can't anyone else get it right?

I'm not a heavy Windows user, outside of gaming, so it continues to boggle my mind every time I remember that Windows *STILL*, to this day in 20-freaking-25, doesn't have an equivalent to Preview on MacOS.

C'mon Microsoft. Preview is amazing. Make your own lightweight everything-viewer.

When I was a kid in the 80s I remember all those clicks and pops you'd hear when making calls as the physical relays physically connected you to your destination. It was fascinating.

I'm so glad this tech is being kept alive somewhere.
nobody talking about sacred machines is talking about telephony equipment and they ought to be, like all of this metal was directly connecting your ear to someone's gaping maw and into literal orbit and back while simultaneously handling hundreds more. and it sounds like this it's like a critter

Reading up on the Steam Machine and it just seems... really underpowered?

My gaming PC trounces it, and I wasn't even going for a super high end build.

It better be cheap with these specs. 8GB of VRAM, seriously. :/
