One crow I’ll eat is that I thought the Epstein stuff was a form of gag initiation to pull each other in deep enough to form solidarity. Apparently, they were just doing it for the love of the game.

I suppose it's better to give up now and avoid hurting people with a shutdown than to do that and give up later.

There are people who refuse to see the connection between Cop City and this. I get "cops don't serve the public interest at all" is a tough pill to swallow (it took me a LONG time to accept that), but at a certain point, it becomes refusing to engage in pattern recognition.

FFXIV, by contrast, doesn’t have these systems, and thus player interactions are, at worst, neutral. This leads to a friendlier player base.

I actually make this argument about WoW vs FFXIV. WoW’s faction system, world PVP, tagging system, and gathering system lead to player interactions being adversarial in nature, thus leading to a hostile player base.
