Tonight there will be a Blue Supermoon at 9:35 ET

The moon will appear about 8% larger than a normal full moon and 15% brighter than a normal full moon.

The next one won't be until January 2037. Keep any eye out tonight!

Makes me sad re-reading this amazing letter from ex-Watergate Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox sent to high school seniors in 1994 after they asked him “What should Americans learn from Watergate?” 20 years later in ‘94.

His answer is remarkable—unfortunately things didn’t work out so well in 2024.

🚨 New paper published in... Nature 😱

I never thought that I would write these words, but here is a Nature-paper that I contributed to. We found global loss in genetic diversity. But conservation strategies may maintain or increase genetic diversity.

Women in leadership often face a double standard: assertiveness is "too aggressive," while showing empathy is "too soft."

In reality, women who lead with both compassion and determination challenge outdated stereotypes and pave the way for a more inclusive and effective leadership model.
Text on a blue background with a quote from former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern about battling perceptions of weakness, asserting compassion and strength.

For #TidyTuesday this week, we're looking at data on terminations of NSF grants 📊

🎨 Using colour to highlight one category
📈 Transparency to highlight the important data
✍️ Annotations instead of a legend for transparency

#RStats #ggplot2 #DataViz
Bar chart showing 651 NSF-funded research projects, with total terminated days in dark grey or red, completed days in light grey or red. Red highlights projects listed by Ted Cruz as "neo-Marxist class warfare propaganda".
