The doubling of the rate of global heating in recent decades has surprised the scientific community so needs to be better understood yet our capability to measure Earth's energy imbalance is at risk: doi.org/10.1029/2024...

Next Tuesday evening, we are delighted to have one of the most remarkable and inspiring scientists as our guest. If you've never heard Naomi Oreskes @naomioreskes.bsky.social (Harvard University) in person, this is your chance at ETH Zürich as part of the SPEED2ZERO Perspective series.

The US brain drain.
Cutting science, innovation and education is an incredibly short-sighted strategy. The loss in competitiveness, innovation, leadership and economic value to society is large, long-lasting and almost certainly exceeds the short-term savings by far.

Today, a broad coalition of scientific professional societies who represent over 92,000 scientists are speaking out against the politicization and demonization of Federally funded science and government scientist jobs.

It was an honor to help the Union of Concerned Scientists with this! 🧪🌎

When facts are inconvenient or don't matter any more, we can simply get rid of science.

The US shows what can happen if you weaken the public's understanding and relevance of science, technology and innovation.

Essentially all inhabited places on the planet were warmer in 2024 than the recent baseline. Most of the ocean area too.

About 1/3 of the planet experienced record high temperatures.

We know why.

And we know how to fix it.
