If you wonder how crazy the regime's assault on the opposition in Turkey see the table below listing the charges against various people. It's impossible to follow all of them but this is the point - politics gets lost in its design through judiciary. Ordinary people don't have time to follow them.

The table need to be updating, but the mayor of Istanbul is already facing several legal proceedings. From memory, between 2019 and 2023 alone, he has been the subject of more than 80 investigations.

What the Turkish government is trying to do to the CHP is what they did with several independent media outlets: rather than simply destroying them, you take them over, like a vampire biting its victims, making them into slaves. I.e. Replace CHP's leadership with compliant quislings.
