For me this explains everything - he was part of this subculture that's all about being 'agentic', controlling your own life through reason and grindset, and suddenly he slips a disk and finds that, no, he *has* to rely on other people, but they're letting him down.

I do not think that the broken and angry man who did this is a hero or should be celebrated, but this is a country that celebrates murders on a regular basis, which just reelected a man who pardoned serial killers because they were in uniform at the time.
