HBD 🎂 (10/6/1959) #Pittsburgh #Pirates farmhand Dennis “Oil Can” Boyd!

The #Buccos signed the injured Boyd in April of 1992 to a minor league contract.

His only appearance was 4 scoreless innings in a 5/11 exhibition between the Bucs & their AA Carolina Mudcats.

#Pittsburgh #Pirates first baseman Willie Stargell is named MVP of the NLCS, leading the Buccos to a 3-0 series sweep of the Cincinnati Reds!

Willie would later be named MVP of the World Series and share NL MVP honors with Keith Hernandez.

Hatcher was acquired in 1989 from Houston for OF Glenn Wilson. He batted .244 w/1hr & 7rbi in 27 games 86 at-bats before being dealt to #Reds prior to 1990.

Remembering #Pittsburgh #Pirates Hall of Fame OF & Mgr Fred Clarke, born OTD (10/3/1872).

Clarke has the 8th most WAR (46.8) in club history, played in 1479 games (10th most), & is the winningest #Buccos manager (1422). He also patented flip-down sunglasses 🕶.
