Welcome all new BlueSky followers, I know some were followers from Twatter & others are new. So a brief introduction, I have been a lover of riding on 2 wheels since I learnt to ride a bicycle & further engrained when I started riding motorcycles. Due to disability I did stop cycling for a while

WOW! The European Parliament just voted to BAN the words 'burger' and 'sausage' when used in sustainable plant-based alternatives. HUGE win for the meat and dairy lobby in the EU, and lots more confusion for consumers if this goes through. Insane!

And when we try to make changes, neighbors organize with rhetoric like this. Kemp Mill Civic Association is riling up fear of having to pay tickets (avoidable by not speeding) while people are killed on these roads. It’s disgusting.

And std ebikes DO NOT evolve into electric motorcycles, they are modified by those who want to ride motorcycles but do not want to have the responsibility & requirements of riding them as registered electric motorcycles.

De-restricted e-bikes (i.e. electric motorcycles) are already banned from bike paths and MUPs. The legislation is mostly fine. It's the media practices (polarising the public against e-bikes for clicks) and enforcement that is lacking.

On this tour one of the themes is that in the UK we have almost zero settled cycle culture. There's no settled way how to behave on a bike, how others might expect you to behave, how you might expect others to behave.

It was nice to show some Planning students from Sciences Po Rennes around some of Liverpool's cycling infra developed since 2020.

I found myself frequently inviting them to draw their own conclusions. Good? Bad? Useful? Dangerous? Would they use it?
