For me, these things are almost entirely about cadence. “To boldly go” rings *poetic*. Look, here it is in an iambic pentameter -

“To boldly go, as best we can, and see-“

“To go boldly”, by contrast, has a crippled rhythm. Which, to be clear, is also useful sometimes…..
For my money:

“To boldly go” conveys a state of boldness which almost incidentally takes the form of going

“To go boldly” conveys an action “going” possessed of a quality “boldness”

They are not the same. I need access to both. That’s all it takes.

I’ve lost count of the times I’ve disagreed with a copy editor/style guide on the simple grounds “It just *sounds* better this way.”

In the end, language is about *flow*. Grammar is just a set of agreed conventions to help that flow. Where it gets in the way of flow, then hey - fuck grammar!

NB caveat - this is an 18 Certificate opinion, not applicable to kids or school. Sorry kids. First you learn the rules, then you deploy them, then - with mastery - you break them as you see fit.

(Some) capitalists have always understood this - starting with the illustrious Adam Smith himself.

The problem is that wealth is a corrosive where social and legal systems are concerned, and Capitalism has been superlatively successful at creating wealth in large quantities.

Weird - the recent sight of the US electorate being fucking stupid & reaping the reward has brought out a rash of homegrown UK comment on here trying to justify/excuse/polish the turd of the British (well, in truth the English) electorate being fucking stupid back in 2016 & reaping the reward.....

"Do it to Julia! Not me!"

The naked outcome of Fascism.
“If a farm family voted for Trump, believing that his policies were good,” writes @davidfrum.bsky.social, “it seems strange that they would then demand that they, and only they, should be spared the full consequences of those policies”:
No Tariff Exemptions for American Farmers
They voted for the tariffs when they voted for Trump.

It's also, of course, one of the salients of contemporary right wing politics (I'm not going to call it Conservatism, because it stopped being that a few decades ago) - one rule for me, another rule for everyone else. Strong on Law and Order, but only for Other People.
