Friendly reminder that data coming from The White House is either the result of incompetence or deliberately misleading. Either way, best data practice is to always include longitudinal data to provide your audience with context.

"“The kinds of figures we’re talking about—that would actually save public money, remember—are rounding errors in most transportation budgets,” @brenttoderian.bsky.social says. “So cities are literally wasting public money by not investing in smart bike infrastructure.””
“If you care about the bottom line, budgets & taxes, then you should care about urban biking, because it’s a money saver. It’s ironic when so-called fiscal conservatives attack biking, when their efforts just show a lack of understanding of math.” My interview with @modacitylife.com #CityMakingMath
Opinion: Why more urban cycling saves everyone money | Urbanized
The resulting benefits of a ‘car-less’ household are myriad, but few are as quantifiable as the money most people sink into a depreciating asset that sits unused for 95% of the time.

I’m convinced that the antivax movement will look like an absolute act of stupidity to historians. The US willingly reintroducing measles is just baffling…

That chart is well worth studying. Share of daily transactions taking place in cash around the world. As an Australian, I’m very much used to cashless everything by now. I’m still totally against going fully cashless.

Turns out Canadians love Australia and think it should be treated as an ally. The opinion towards the US however shifted and half of the population now sees the US (its neighbour and biggest trading partner as a threat). While Trump had some geopolitical wins, he ruined the relationship with Canada!
