When the bubble collapses, if we're lucky, what will be left is some useful text analysis technology. It's more about how much damage it does between now and then TBH.

Feels inherently unlikely to me. Actually existing "AI" isn't really anywhere near this. It can construct plausible sentences, that's it. Altman & co have a vested interest in hyping it up, but in reality we're miles away from the Superman II scenario.

No. It's all hype. The energy assumptions required to continue growing AI simply don't add up. It will be a one-generation thing where it destroys the entry pipeline for a lot of jobs which we then have to rebuild from scratch after it collapses.

Watched the first 5 mins. Better off reading Asimov.

Starmer's Labour is worse than the Tories because there isn't a Labour party waiting in the wings, unless we see some astonishing magic from the Greens. People rejected the Tories and Labour came in to tell them, no, that's not allowed, this is the only policy there is. Fuck you.

The lack of economic democracy is one of the things that's killing our political democracy. The fact that our discourse is so dismissive of any discussion of different models is part of the problem.
