There was a time when torturing humanitarians activists was something we considered despicable and authoritarian. When sending military to act as a private police force was fascist. There was a time (not too long ago) when films/TV shows like Punishment Park, The Long Walk, Civil War, Fahrenheit 451, 1984, The Handmaids Tale, The Shield, Come and See, Andor… etc, were cautionary tales, NOT instructional documentaries mandating viewers to replicate the motives of the antagonist.
