I wrote liner notes for the vinyl reissue of Sally Shapiro's classic debut, Disco Romance. Check it out! It was an honor to be chosen by a band I love so much.

Tron Ares' aesthetic is reminiscent of Anthony Scott Burns' fan film. That's cool.

Feels like we’re not far away from The Midnight collaborating with Charli or Taylor.

A man who witnessed the Lincoln assassination lived until 1956 and could have theoretically listened to the first album by Harry Belafonte, who in turn lived long enough to hear "WAP"

I hear ya. Blink is definitely the superior band (especially because of his joining before Enema).

It’s not hard, and even a little note helps balance out the busybodies who are going to complain that they’ll never visit again because they can’t find parking

Look, I appreciate this. TV needs more of this. Let’s have fun again. Seriously things are so bad in the industry and everywhere. Let’s all turn on stuff at night together and go “that was insane” and then surprise there are 20 more episodes and the characters don’t remember being in orbit.

Full disclosure: I had a fully written review of The Midnight's new album, Syndicate, in the can for a while, but I ended up throwing it and am starting over. If you're wondering why I haven't published anything yet.

“All of this feels ridiculous because that’s exactly what it is. But the larger goal is to inure you to the strangeness of it all so that when these products — be they movies, shows, or TikToks — finally come to market, your reaction is ‘Sure, why not?’”

Great story. Can't overstate the desperation in creative industries right now. Nearly every person I know who previously had a viable, or even lucrative, career in media/entertainment is in a financial panic, leaving longtime apartments, desperately taking any work they can find. It is really bad.

The most important human story in the entertainment industry right now is the severe downturn in film and TV production in LA and how it's affecting middle-class crew workers. I spoke to dozens of them for this story about the depressed Hollywood economy. www.wsj.com/business/med...
L.A.’s Entertainment Economy Is Looking Like a Disaster Movie
