Yesterday, a guy came in to renew his #library card so he could check out books on homesteading. As we get to the section, he tells me, "The country is run by unelected lunatic technocrats & my family decided to go full-on hippy commune in response."

Our #library has one of those bead-track cube toys that has been here for 15+ years. Today, a child no older than 7 came in, sat at the activity cube, & gleefully declared, "I feel like a little kid again!" as she pushed the beads along the loopy wire.

Lessons you only have to learn once as a #library employee: you must open every bathroom stall to check that they're empty at closing. Looking for feet under the doors isn't enough when temperatures are freezing & you live in a place that thinks cold weather shelters are for communists. *heavy sigh*

Going on the record to say I'd feel 1,000,000x safer sharing space with trans women than with anyone wearing a red MAGA hat. Believe it or not, I can't tell who was born with which chromosomes just by looking at them AND NEITHER CAN ANYONE ELSE.
