Reminds me of the aphorism that disorganized democracy is no match for organized greed.
The issue is not surrendering. It’s understanding that policy differences don’t make a damn bit of difference if you no longer have the democratic structures in place to debate and decide them. Unite over saving democracy, then we can go back to fighting over our policy differences.

Reminds me of the aphorism that disorganized democracy is no match for organized greed.
Murder to settle disagreements is older than the idea we can settle them through talk and compromise. That more nobler approach is only possible if we all work to make it possible. And rewarding those who demonize their fellow citizens with positions of power destroys it for all of us.

If an administration set policy that they could and would deport naturalized Jewish citizens who’ve been here for decades for their DEI support to gulags in foreign countries we would be up in fucking arms.
