And yes, I am aware that one of my recent posts is a fart joke about the Washington Post so, low bar.

Also, Jesus Christ I've spent so much time in my little queer bubble that I forgot how catastrophically inane most social media responses are.

Looks like they're already gearing up to send out replacement stickers.

I generally do switch to Kodak P3200 instead for 35mm work for the slightly finer grain, I'll admit.

You know, it's ok to just admit you'd never seen "gross" used in that way before.

Kodak's original patent expired in the '90s. While they hold many patents related to the algorithms used to interpret sensor data, the most relevant were sold wholesale to an industry consortium in the early 2010s and even there it's not guaranteed that every camera would need those patents.

Yeah, that's not what "prior art" means in an IP law context.

Delta 3200 is one of my very favorite films. Nothing quite like being able to shoot indoors with ambient light.
I am a middling photographer at best until you hand me something square format.

While Kodak does hold numerous patents related to digital imaging, not every camera uses technology from those patents and Kodak absolutely does not just blanket "get royalties for every digital camera sold." That's a gross oversimplification of intellectual property law.

I agree that modern machinery is quite meticulously built to a price and de-contented as much as possible. But the fact remains that most actual studies looking into actual life expectancy show that most appliances do not have significantly shorter service lives by cycle count than in the past.

AI is not a source. AI is fancy autocorrect that is built to generate something that looks like an answer while performing no fact checking or research at all while frequently hallucinating false information. We do not cite to the plagiarism machines here.

What a clear, cogent, and well-sourced response to a study with actual data in it. I'm definitely swayed by this.

Studies suggest that this may largely be due to the fact that the average number of loads of washing done by a family of 4 has increased 4x since the 1960s (from 2 loads per week to 8 loads per week).

No need. Integrated batteries mean everything already has an artificially shortened lifespan.

I am mildly annoyed that the name they use for today's car is technically not completely correct.
