Hey Bluesky! I’m Atlas!
I’m a nontraditional uni student studying English, with a huge interest in disability, digital, and queer studies.

I’m also autistic with ADHD and have several other disabilities.

I’m also a musician, a (published!) writer, and a gamer.

Looking forward to being here!
I totally didn’t text my gaming best friend at 12:15am or so saying “i wanna fight the headless horseman and get a special achievement”

totally didn’t do that.

Atlas Has Returned.

And I bring personal updates:
- Currently playing FFXIV, Risk of Rain 2, Deadlock, and Skyrim.
- Currently hyperfixated on A Thousand Suns (Linkin Park album) and Mt. Everest (which we are ALL pronouncing wrong).
- GRADUATING IN A YEAR IF I’M LUCKY
- Did more advocacy.

"ABA therapy does not teach children to be typical. It teaches children to act 'normal,' all the while inhibiting them from finding their own normal." From @cosmichael.bsky.social, at TPGA:

Why I Hate ABA Therapy: A Personal Opinion
ABA therapy doesn't in any way help us autistics to adapt; it forces us not to complain about routine sensory punishment beatings.

I totally buy and receive books as gifts! I’ve been enjoying books on writing, the bands I listen to, and autistic topics since last year, and I hope to gain more knowledge this year!!

Do you buy books or receive books as gifts during this holiday season?

It’s been a while since I’ve logged onto bsky but.

In April, for my birthday, QB, another irl friend, and I decided to try EX trials. QB was already familiar, Caalun (other friend’s IGN) and I were not.

Long story short, Caalun has been away for a while but QB and I have formed a raid static.
As of recently I’m playing FFXIV again.

Guess we’ll see how far my quest buddy and I get before the interest or scheduling dies down again XD

TFW I have to start filtering political keywords (read: t and m's names) because I cannot handle hearing the news at all lately.

It's frustrating. I like knowing things, but this is just too much.

Semester’s in full swing and I have:
- A professor who is/was in a Canadian indie rock band.
- A professor who is a medieval scholar but was once an elementary school teacher.
- An instructor whose academic interests match mine almost perfectly.
- A professor who makes ethnographic documentaries.

liberal neurodiversity advocates are the same people who have supported and staffed the offices of the democratic senators who bend to the wills of the billionaires.

their accomplishments?

some, yet few

they'd have you believe they invented advocacy, however.

and that radicals should be quiet

We’re often told we lack empathy, but often, it’s the opposite.

Autistic humans often over-empathize, mimicking and feeling others' emotions to survive.

It’s time we start prioritizing our own emotional needs.

Saw this video of a teacher flipping out at a high school class because he's so sick and tired of hearing "Skibidi this and that"... as a teacher for many years, if you want a distracting meme to die, just use it in your lesson once in front of the class. *Poof* no more. They won't use it again

I see a lot of beauty when people advocate for neurodiversity (the concept that the diversity of human minds is both natural and valuable) because it communicates:

- my mind is open
- I see you
- you’re not broken
- I want society to be better
