My voice hasn't recovered from COVID a few weeks ago, still full of clag - but this Azure album is something I've had on singing rotation for a while, which has really helped me find and develop my voice recently

Been up to some crazy stuff recently, between solo album, hanging with some awesomely talented women from She:Music, and this ripping jam with Addison Lake from last week. Many more exciting projects on the hob at the minute, I can't wait to talk about more of them as they get closer to release!

I learned how to do inhale harshies! This is super pitchy because I need to requit cigarettes after the current political stress, and my mic technique is terrible so the fact that this is comped between takes makes it look very sus - but it's all worth it to finally have a reliable high shriek!

I record one of these silly little jams every time I walk into the studio. Struggling to enjoy drums at the minute, but this is what keeps me sharp enough that when my love for hitting stuff comes back to me, my hands, feet, ears, and brain will HOPEFULLY be ready!

Practicing Routine, by Steven Wilson on the 9-string guitar. My singing voice suffers because of how hard I have to concentrate, but I feel like I'm making progress! Crunching through chords works, but I want more voicings, and more hand independence - and for it all to feel a lot easier!

Palpable relief as I finish the last take for the last track that needed draft vocals for Nothing Wheel! There's still plenty of comping, editing, and redrafting that'll need doing, but the album is crawling closer and closer to complete. I can't wait for people to hear it!

Working with @eowa.uk tomorrow! I recorded the "Year Without a Summer" album during a lull in lessons caused by the 40c heatwave, so it was as brutal playing it as it was listening to it! It's absolutely at the edge of my ability - hoping I can get away with it once again...!

Wow, what a throwback! Somehow it's been 3 years since the first Prefers to Hide in the Dark EP came out, "Boundless Eternity, Hereafter Torment." We recorded a few covers over the intervening years, and are very excited for a "big things coming" type announcement sometime soon, I think 🥁👀

I've been singing Jonathan Coulton tunes recently - this is "Down Today." His music blows me away with how engaging his lyrical writing is, alongside melodic writing that would easily stand on it's own without the comic edge. What a talented musician!

More silly drum noises while I make steady headway on Nothing Wheel vocal recording! I rewatched Boing! We'll Do It Live by The Aristocrats last night, and I fell in love with how fun and silly Marco makes playing drums all over again!
