Library Clerk and geek of many stripes (comics, board games, anime, manga, fairy tales, etc). Nerdy enough to watch anime. Old enough to not give a damn if someone calls them "Japanese cartoons".
Watching Roger Rabbit again. Growing up, the Dip seemed like some strange otherwordly substance. But the movie just described it as turpentine, acetone and benzene. That's . . . Paint thinner. Or at least something similar.

Well, I haven't talked about retro comics stuff and culture in a while.

So, I've thought about it. And I threatened to do it. So, lets just do it. Let's talk about the different versions of the Toyman and how they may reflect changing attitudes toward toys and childhood.

So, I've decided that I will not destroy the planet. Largely because this is where all my stuff is.

(I know. I'm so materialistic. But I'm working on that).

Rewatching The Day the Earth Blew Up.

Porky and Petunia are so cute together. It's a shame Petunia doesn't show up in things so much anymore.

You know, I remember when she was Wonder Woman.

Currently on sale on ebay. A set of billiard balls! All pieces are accounted for. They're a bit vintage, but should work fine in a family rec room. www.ebay.com/itm/33637083...

I really should stop arguing with people on Facebook. I just got into it again about OUaT's portrayal of Peter Pan, and the notion that Peter "was always a villain".

He's not. He's an antihero, an unknowingly tragic figure, and an example of the necessity of growing up. [CONT]

Watching UPA's 1001 Arabian Nights (with Magoo as Aladdin's uncle). And now I know that Disney isn't the first one to combine the wicked sorcerer and evil vizier into one character. Or to leave out the Djinni of the Ring.

I've been watching the old Mr. Magoo theatrical shorts and came to a realization.

Magoo is a bit of Karen.

No kidding! I've been following this manga since the first tonkabon came out stateside. I had actually been hoping for a live action adaptation. Y'know, because kaiju. When someone says "kaiju" to me, I'm the type who's like "Great, now let's see the rubber suit!".
It was announced that “Kaiju Girl Caramelise” will be receiving an anime adaptation produced by lidenfilms

Scheduled to broadcast in 2026

Was supposed to go to a dentist appointment, but the dentist's office closed because of inclement weather. Was well and good anyway, because I'm not exactly feeling 100% anyway. Now I'm sitting here watching old Mr. Magoo cartoons so I can blog about them later.

Stop what you're doing and post a gif of your favorite anime.

(Okay, so it's ONE of my favorites. I don't have a ranked list).

You know, I like Spy x Family, but I always seem to find my attention drifting to other stuff when I put an episode on. Probably because I've already read the story in the manga. #anime #manga

I got some engagement talking about Space Ghost yesterday. So, I thought I'd talk a bit more about the old Hanna-Barbera superheroes.

And one thing that the old H-B heroes were good at realizing is what an amalgous, pulpy genre superheroes are, and wearing that on their sleeve. [CONT]

Watching Rankin-Bass's Cricket on the Hearth. Which drove me to google whether or not there are green crickets. Because both Rankin-Bass and Disney depicts crickets as green. Most of the crickets I've seen are black or tan.

Got tired of both Christmas movies and anime, so now I'm watching Space Ghost. My relationship with the old Hanna-Barbera action heroes is strange, because I like this stuff for its straightforward simplicity [CONT]

Bought a duck at Wal-Mart. Well . . . Two ducks, technically.

Sometimes I hate it here.

Well, guess I ought to take a break to go to the stupid gym.

Stupid, stupid, gym.

Watching The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show.

Both Garfield and Peanuts had Saturday morning cartoons in the '80s. But Garfield is the more beloved one. Which is the opposite of the paradign when it comes to the newspaper strips.

Watching Dexter's Laboratory. I'm not sure this show held up as well as I expected it to. But this is the episode with Paul Williams, so at least there's that.
December 21, 2025 at 5:06 PM
Watching Magilla Gorilla now.

Nothing to say beyond that.

Just watched an ep of Transformers Animated and now have moved onto the 2021 version of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

I love the 1980s action properties as long as they're not the actual ones from the 1980s. Because that was actually kind of a dire time for children's animation.
December 21, 2025 at 4:12 PM
Watching Tennessee Tuxedo.

Do you think Mr. Whoopee was surprised when a penguin and walrus from the zoo first showed up to ask him for advice?
December 21, 2025 at 3:13 PM
Watching G.I. Joe: Renegades. I forgot how fitting this version of G.I. Joe felt for these times. Cobra is a giant, evil corporation. The government/military are a problem. And the ones you can trust are a small group of "ordinary joes".

You know what city is really unwalkable? Orbit City from The Jetsons.

"I'm just going to walk to the stor-AAAAAAAAAHH!"
