Library Clerk and geek of many stripes (comics, board games, anime, manga, fairy tales, etc). Nerdy enough to watch anime. Old enough to not give a damn if someone calls them "Japanese cartoons".

I don't know, but that's a common thing with Japanese properties. In Gekiranger, this thing was called the "Geki Hammer".
The Geki Hammer, which is really more of a flail. (Note: colors are black, cyan and silver with an elephant motif).

The swirling logo actually kind of reminds me of the effects they'd have for the logo shot in the Ultraman series.

I might need to find this one.

It makes sense, though. Fascism has often been oddly juvenile. The whole Nazi ethos functioned on a mythology that sounded like it came out of an old pulp fiction magazine.

What I don't quite understand is why they cost fifferent amounts depending on where they're coming from. Is it because the other countries are producing it less ethically?
adamhoffman.bsky.social
And you better show King Bambi proper respect if you want them to corrupt you.

Hey, I'm not complaining. Bringing in Pre-Christian stuff is a plus for me. The whole show is loosely based on the Ulster Cycle. So little of that mythology still exists, so it's nice when it gets some spotlight.

Kind of pre-medeival, actually. They keep invoking pre-Christian Irish Celtic gods throughout the show (well, at least one. They say "By Dagda!" a lot).

I remember when this article was a gag about action movie tropes. Now comments are filled with real-world political takes. Like, I get it, but I still miss the old way.

What's amazing is he's finding all this Christian allegory in a Japanese property that doesn't touch Christianity with a ten-foot pole. I'd get for Ultraman, which was made by a Japanese Catholic. I'd get it for Evangelion, which uses Biblical names. But One Piece . . ?

I'm not sure this show can be normal about anything.

CRT addiction is so tragic.

Me too. It's one of the DC Kirby things that can't be found in TPB right now.

I just remembered that one of the other big things Wonder Man contributed to the Avengers was his friendship with the Beast.

But it's going to take a while for Beast to find his way into the MCU, and he probably won't be away from the X-Men much.

-Brother becomes Grim Reaper. Revenge for Wonder Man being dead.

Maybe that's why they keep killing him off and bringing him back.
adamhoffman.bsky.social
The funny thing about Wonder Man is that he seems like he should be a key Avenger on the level of Hawkeye or Scarlet Witch. But so much of his stuff works with him being dead.
-Plant by Zemo with change-of-heart. Dies at end.
-Brain patterns used for Vision. Happened when he was dead.

It's just nice that they found something to do with Simon in the MCU at all. A lot of Avengers milestones that involved him happened before he appeared. I guess they could introduce Grim Reaper too. [CONT]

First trailer for Marvel's 'Wonder Man' series

All 8 episodes release January 27 on Disney+

A Hollywood parody is pretty much what I expected. At this point, the Hollywood superhero stuff and Grim Reaper are pretty much all you can do with Wonder Man at this point in the MCU.

Except maybe killing and resurrecting him over and over again.
adamhoffman.bsky.social
Well, they can't have Zemo give him powers, so . . .

I know it's Alan Moore, but isn't it a bit presumptupous of him to think he could write the coda (ie "finale") for an entire type of comic book?
adamhoffman.bsky.social
This kind of explains why they're putting out a DC Finest of the Kirby series.
adamhoffman.bsky.social
Hopefully it lasts longer than the last "young people in Star Fleet" thing I watched.

RIP Prodigy.

Really? That's odd. Because I had a subscription to it. You usually can't subscribe to miniseries through the mail.

But very few people want to go down the "Batman tried a super-steroid once" path. So, Bane just ends up being this strong, juicer guy with no connection in most media.
