I think it's also worth noting that Trump is actually legit aware of what's going on in specials and that the GOP is getting creamed and is distinctly worried about spending his last two years in office getting impeached non stop

It DOES feel more than a little like "We need new product *NOW* and figuring out whether to continue the Gizmoplex-era is a bunch of actor/writer contracts to work out versus 'just have RiffTrax's crew play/voice their parts again' as a quick(er) fix that could go longer if it works."

I'd be interested to know the timeline for when each discussion/deal started/wrapped, assuming acquiring the full rights and making the RiffTrax deal were in fact two separate things and not a single plan from the beginning.

Remember like 15 years ago, when Russian dash cams of horrible accidents went viral? And everyone in Russia was using them because they couldn’t trust the authorities? Fundamentally, the dash cam and the body cam are the visual record of a failed state. They are a symptom posing as a substitute

"No, for real: 'What if ALL THE BIRDS IN THE WORLD just went crazy for no reason and started attacking people. Wouldn't that be messed up?' That's the movie. And it came out back in Grandma Times with real actors. It was sorta-scary for back then. You can look it up and watch it."

A fun experience is explaining the premise of "THE BIRDS" to a present-day child who is not previously aware that this is a real movie that is considered an established classic and not an elaborate joke you are telling them.

Follow-up punchline: HBO's other immediate reaction was to ask "So, this CRAZY NEW PRODUCTION MODEL that's worked for 'a show about a hospital' ...what if same model but 'a show about POLICE OFFICERS!?' Has anyone tried that before???" πŸ™ƒ

We'll get primitive soaps back from first principles next πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

The Pitt got greenlit for a season 3, out next February, and the announcement has very funny comment from HBO chairman Casey Bloys that’s like β€œyeah, turns out if you just make a TV show like how we used to make TV shows you can have a 15+ episode season every year πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈβ€

and i imagine that this is better for cast and crew who get something closer to a regular paycheck and more chances to grow creatively

Christopher Nolan should have cast Helen of Troy the way the Greeks would have: by casting the most attractive young man in the company and giving him a really fuckable porcelain mask.

Having a WOMAN play Helen of Troy??? Talk about inaccurate. The Greeks would fucking riot.

This ("EVERYBODY WANTS SOME") was one of my favorite movies the year it came out and definitely holds up. Ultra-underrated Linklater, a genuine showcase of "guys who blew up right after" and an all-time "no plot all vibes" hangout movie. Maybe the most honest laudatory "bros" snapshot ever.
Rewatching Everybody Wants Some!! a film I have a lot of affection for because a) it's a good movie and b) I first watched it with my housemates and one guy had come in 10 minutes late. When it ended he was like "That was class, is the next episode out?"
He was raging to learn it wasn't a series.

Just a reminder.
The directors of Avengers: Doomsday once produced a show that included one of the characters being labeled as a "bad person" after she claimed Brett Ratner was a master storyteller/movie maker.

The thing about all these men is they could date anybody. They're rich, they're famous. They could bag socialites or models or actresses or whoever. Instead they single out the most vulnerable women and girls they can find. They cannot form relationships with women who are their peers.

The most popular and highly anticipated piece of media in human history is definitely going to make less money for investors because now you can press a button to generate a game where the enemies don’t persist if you aren’t looking at them.

I AM FURIOUS.

Adobe Animate remains an industry standard for TV animation. Star Trek: Lower Decks was made in Animate. Haunted Hotel was made in Animate. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was made in Animate.

And because you can't buy a permanent licence anymore, it'll just be gone.
