It’s obviously a factor but the money thing is a bit of a red herring.
There are now so many examples of countries that get rich and then their birth rates fall (even more).
Some of the poorest regions have the highest rates currently too.
Throwing money at the problem has also had no effect.

The truth is, if for poor Millennials and Gen-Zeters (read 90% of their population) the choice is between paying rent or having children, the sensible ones will choose paying rent.

LOTS (size matters) of people were entering the work market in the 70s & 80s … we’ve mostly all now (or soon will) left it.

Wealth distribution AND population age distribution matters.

Thatcher got lucky … the economy picked up because all us boomers started working and consuming.

Our population (along with just about everywhere outside of Africa) is now declining , there are going to be less workers … and us boomers are now all (or about to be) pensioners.

The answer is to get people off the internet.
Birth rates are falling because people are coupling later in life (or never).
Countries like South Korea 🇰🇷 and Japan 🇯🇵 (canaries in the coal mine) are already experiencing many of the difficulties associated with ageing societies.
Distribution matters.
