I draw I dev I complain about tropes and video games.

Ok I'm back with stuff mostly fixed.
Takeaway from the break:
- I will try to post dev updates every 2 days
- I will likely fail to do that a lot
This is the only compromise I found between doing nothing and burning out every month.

Catching up and learning those are two completely unrelated scenes was VERY funny

Main goal for 2026 is making something presentable for SAGE, every year I tell myself I'll do it but I'm always too slow and my project falls apart, this one has been the quite stable and I'm confident I can stick to it. Other than that I want to make a new art account so I can draw & interact more.

Oh yeah new year stuff. Art and game-wise it hasn't been as productive as I would have wanted but considering I haven't had a full night of sleep since last year there's not much room for optimizations while staying healthy. Learned a lot about design and picked up Japanese though, that was nice.

I remember finding myself unable to react to simple things and thinking to myself "I guess I'm washed up."

Adding to that I do feel like indie games should be more annoying with pushing their games everywhere and on everyone because the people who might love it will NOT find it by themselves, the embarassment you feel is a small price to pay for actually finding people who understand your vision.

What's the point of compromising on anything when you don't even know if the people you compromise for will ever know your game exists? If success is necessary find a way to make small games that can be finished in under a year to raise the odds, otherwise might as well push for weird stuff.

At least with making videos or posting art online each new piece adds to your chances and could be seen as some sort of investisment but I really don't see it with in indie games. Game with 500 reviews getting a way super sequel that can't break 200.

Last time I was checking enemy behavior stuff it was for my mech game and seeing how many parameters were available for ACVD CPU allies made me give up on the whole thing, this project was chosen so I wouldn't struggle so much but I have a bad habit of really liking complex enemies lol

I know Godot has agent avoidance stuff but considering I already want my enemies to position themselves at a certain distance from the player to whiff punish I'm not sure I can handle that + pathfinding + avoidance and possibly tank movement on slower mobs.

I definitely want them to try and be at specific angles based on the map layout/player facing direction but how to handle multiple enemies picking a similar position? Is a grid/point system like Doom/GoW PS4 worth it? Or is that very overengineered AAA game stuff?
