🫣 Profits are for wimps. Revenues are for losers. Ideas sell, not fundamentals

Over half the Nasdaq market is loss making. About 1-in-8 companies have no revenues

There are a lot more in these camps than in the past

Genuine sympathy with Office for National Statistics on this. What's happened here is a bog-standard HMRC recording error on VAT which the ONS have been commendably open about. On substance, it doesn't change the outlook much as low VAT receipts always looked erratic.

Every few months now I re-read this "Who Goes Nazi?" piece from 1941 and am blown away by how it captures the people we are dealing with 80 years later.

“‘Anything we can actually do, we can afford.’ Taxation controls the distribution of wealth. At bottom, however, state spending never rests on private profit. This means that an impoverished public good such as the present higher-education system reflects an impoverished public imagination.”

The threat is quite real, & fortunately, Canadian leaders are aware of it.

The West may now be finally waking up to the full enormity of the horrors Israel has inflicted in Gaza. It is time we started listening to Palestinian voices, while there are still Palestinians left alive to speak truth to power.

I grew up going to Zabar's. So many of my childhood memories center around the best lox in NYC (which is saying something). With Saul Zabar's passing today, the Upper West Side has lost a legend who turned his parent's humble store into a culinary institution.
