i got pretty lucky cracking open my first box of magic the gathering, collecting the set's mythic god cycle, and only missing a few rares, im excited to work towards finally finishing this initial goal of collecting my first set. glad it is a pretty inexpensive set to collect, all things considered.

i will probably never really finish this collection, the japanese liliana was already a huge wall to overcome (~$120 at best) and some of these additions are double the price on its own. thankfully, the thing i care about the most, the main set, is relatively cheap.

39 pages of 9 cards, no empty slots save for the last page, which i may try to dedicate to 9 retro foil spark doubles cuz that card is my favorite.

346 was so frustratingly close, 38 pages of 9 cards with a 39th page who would have five cards missing. Five cards which could conveniently be filled in by the SDCC '19 promo cards.... at this point, unless i can find 9 random cards that are meaningful to this collection, im satisfied

two very special collections of cards, Mythic Edition, and San Diego Comic-Con 2019. now both of these sets of cards are outside of War of the Spark, but they both were or started as WAR promotion material, MED's last release was WAR, SDCC '19 was only WAR promo cards. WAR:MED was 8 cards. 346 total

i go to the scryfall sets master-list and scroll to WAR, i think to myself, maybe collecting the whole block (GRN, RNA, WAR) would help round this out? but that is such an extreme addition to my plan of collecting this set, there has to be something easier, then i notice two very particular things

but thats ok.... the promo cards with unique art/frames looked cool too, thats an extra 8 cards? 338, not divisible by 9. i agonize for a while, what can i do to fill out these pages in a way that lets me use them evenly?? i was pretty restricted to the main set.

and then i think to myself, well, the set has cards that make tokens, so i should collect the tokens! i have all of them anyhow so it would be a zero cost inclusion! There are 19 tokens. 330 is not divisible by 9.

but thats ok! there were some extra cards made for the equivalent of starter decks... 10 extra cards.... 310 is not divisible by 9... and the buy-a-box promo is one card, 311 is not divisible by 9........ this is becoming very taxing on my soul.

the main set is 264 cards, thats not evenly divisible by 9, card albums are usually 3x3 layouts so im planning around dividing the cards by 9. thats ok though, i wanted to collect the japanese exclusive planeswalkers as well, that'll add 36 cards, 36 is divisible by 9 but, annoyingly, 300 is not

just spent the last 3 hours looking at my incomplete war of the spark collection and it went from an $80 prospect (which is a lot) to a $700 prospect because i wanted better page division orz

Urza's Saga was my first box, and all 3 sets from the block call up childhood glee--cracking packs on the floor of the bedroom, immersed in the world building (and broken cards).

This full-art Radiant has cameos by Urza block white cards, and a 24k gold leaf frame.
