#aibeyond2025 - @aj-boston.bsky.social discusses the variation of views and opinions between AI evangelists and AI atheists and how, despite *however much we may want to*, we can't simply avoid discussion of "AI".

A simple explanation... that leads to *so* many more questions. Thanks for the leads. Dying to know what coverage looks like across private schools broken down by school type and relative reputation. Suffice to say, the dynamics of who has what access in India looks really complicated.

Only 5,606 affiliated colleges have registered to use India's One Nation One Subscription scheme, even though there are 45,473 colleges eligible??

I don't understand why this would happen. Do some colleges not need ONOS? Are there intentional hurdles being placed for some schools?

Baker & Taylor appears to be shutting down. A post on the r/libraries subreddit from an employee of B&T breaks the news and there appear to be other employees in the comments confirming the situation.

Now that I've thought about it for 30 seconds, it absolutely would be an infringement of academic freedom in the U.S., because it would give *certain* administrations the barest pretext required to imprison researchers with findings contrary to Official Scientific Dogma.

Reading about a Ukrainian draft law regarding academic integrity and the first thought that came to mind is that if the U.S. tried this, there would be a handful of American researchers who would complain that not being allowed to commit scholarly misconduct infringes on their academic freedom.

I have been using the reMarkable Pro Move for notes, journaling, sketching, etc. for about a week. Still deciding if I want to move my weekly to-do list to that format. (It obviously is capable of that, the question is if it will fit in my workflow.)

Congratulations to Mychal.

In related librarian news, I am proud to announce that I am the new owner of Reading Railroad.

Combined with my previous acquisition of B & O Railroad, my children (race car and little Scottie) will now owe me $50 whenever they stop at either of these destinations.

There have been two hosts in the history of Reading Rainbow. The Legend of Literacy, LeVar Burton! And... me, Mychal Threets, a librarian 🥹🤯

I am a reader, a librarian because LeVar Burton and Reading Rainbow made us believe and see we belong in books, we belong everywhere ✨

Smiling Mychal with hands raised wears an outer space shirt in a library. It is a still from an episode of Reading Rainbow. LeVar Burton smiles with hands behind his head as he lies down on a colorful pile of books. ENEMY PIE book rests on his chest.
