An unsurprisingly angry post about the ongoing criminality and obfuscation by moorland estates and shooting bodies in #YorkshireDales National Park (@yorkshiredales.org.uk).

It's been denuded of birds of prey by these bastards who shoot grouse for a hobby and kill everything else that moves.

Finally!!! The real scandal of the asylum hotels. Why, instead of shining the light on these parasites, months were spent on demonising vulnerable people at their mercy?

Macron remarks are notable- some quotes: "We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks that are controlled either by large American entrepreneurs or large Chinese companies, whose interests are not at all the survival or proper functioning of our democracies."

President Macron: “Europeans, let's wake up!

We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks.”

Our new report explores Scotland's attempts to attract private finance to meet net zero targets.

We model funding options for peat restoration + find private finance could increase costs for projects by 48%.

We propose a public-led alternative + policy changes to address non-financial barriers.

I’m sad to hear the news that the wonderful Jane Goodall is no longer in the world. Her work with chimpanzees at Gombe in Tanzania taught us to look at other apes - and ourselves - differently. I was privileged to meet her later in life and tell her what an inspiration she was to me.

Here I am in 2020 in the flimsiest, most pitful PPE - like so many other NHS staff, some of whom died from the Covid they caught in their hospitals.

Tory peer Michelle Mone - who today lost her legal case & must repay the govt £122m - dares to claim she’s been ‘scapegoated’.

What, Michelle? 🧵

🚸 Many parents don’t realise that in Scotland, non-denominational does not mean non-religious. Non-denominational just means a school is not formally linked to a specific church.
Here’s our CEO Fraser Sutherland explaining more at today’s Equalities Committee hearing at Holyrood 👇

I suppose one religion replacing another IS a big societal realignment, which often comes alongside language change if I remember my sociolinguistics lectures correctly
akerbeltz.bsky.social
Ah I see. And perhaps recorders bias? Do we know how accurately early writing resembles the actual language? Did they possibly codify something more complex than the average person said?

This week's #HumanistHero is Kurt Vonnegut. The humanist author gave some excellent advice in his famous 2006 letter to a high school class. “Practice any art…not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming" 🙌
