So, I'm making a song using Asa, and vocaloid 6 is being shockingly bad to use.
1: It's doing the thing V5 did at launch where it's reloading the entire part when editing any note at all. It loads much faster than V5 did, but it's still hitting CPU on all cores a LOT more than needed.

I'm pleasantly surprised that vocaloid6 lite users get access to Asa, and I'm even more pleasantly surprised to hear that the quality of V6 has improved drastically since I looked at it last. She's actually way usable, Though the audio render quality is still worse than V4 even, sadly.

I'm gonna have to try her early access and see how the English sounds before I decide if she's good or not. She sounds way better than NT, however, V6 is also behind in quality compared to more affordable competitors*, so her English has to sound way better than V4X to be a good value proposition.

Just found out that the reason I disliked Kenshi yonezu this whole time was because people on Vocaloid twitter back in 2017 Completely misinterpreted the meaning of 砂の惑星 (en title sand planet) And I didn't realize because The interview where he explained the meaning wasn't translated for ages 🙃

I mean, one of the featured profiles (presumably belonging to a friend/dev) in the iisu announcement presentation was a play on words of JD Vance's name, are we really that surprised that the iisu dev turned out to be transphobic?? It's annoying but it wasn't exactly unforeseeable.

There is almost nothing more depressing than seeing everything you like doing be taken over by AI. Writing, art, design, music, all of it being replaced by cold corporate machines designed to keep us illiterate & subordinate, to take creativity away from humanity. It feels like a knife to my soul.

I kinda feel like Etta and Danny just sound like temu versions of Solaria and Saros respectively. Like their overall timbre is similar, but they sound so thin and weak and lacking in both body and quality.

With the Microsoft agentic OS thing I need to figure out how to get FLstudio, vst plugins, Vocaloid and synthV running on Linux now I guess. This sucks, nobody wants this and no Linux is an easy "it just works" option like Windows. What a mess. 😠

Why am I so against generative AI in games?
Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

Illustrator just crashed my whole ass PC for like the 3rd time after a whole semester of endless problems. I just cancelled that shit SO FAST and I've got a free alternative installing right now. Adobe, if your software's going to be expensive as shit it should at least WORK!

I didn't expect valve to hit me with news like a hurricane force wind today but DAMN! If the prices aren't ass I'm gonna need the controller and the cube as well. Maybe even the headset, who knows?
