but boy am I glad V6 Lite exists so I don't have to drop 200USD upgrade price to get the full V6 editor & like 20 bland silhouette VBs I'll never use.

Asa is pretty great though. She has some low freq. buzzing and inconsistent timbre on long notes, but is the best V6 I've heard for certain.

I will probably still end up getting adachi rei because a V6 rei will still be way more user-friendly than using her Utau, which I don't use purely because of how janky utau still is to use even with high-quality databases and openutau,

voice like you could with older versions of Vocaloid or with the more affordable competitors available nowadays. After the disaster of the V5 launch, I wasn't exactly expecting the highest quality, but I'm really surprised by how bare bones and unpolished V6 feels.

expression, which sounds like dynamics but with some minor timbre adjustment that makes it feel best to use instead of dynamics, which is still here regardless, & then otherwise there's just character & air. It's pretty hard to get a good range of sounds from a single

so I've had to adjust the phoneme timing on almost every single note. Not even chipspeech or vocalina was this bad. At least the phoneme timing issues were consistent with those so it was way less fiddly.

4: There still isn't shit for parameters when using a V6 database. There's

every single vibrato.

3: Vocaloid 6 handles phoneme timing the WORST that I have seen from any vocalsynth ever. It seems to randomly decide whether the vowel for a note starts before the note, right at the note head, or well after the note has started. It's also not consistent at all,

2: You can't have any level of robot voice enabled & also use Vibrato on a V6 part. This functionality is still intact for V5 and older databases, just like it functioned in V5, but it doesn't work with V6 VBs, & this is like tripling my tuning time currently since I have to hand draw

A note for people here who are trying to do the early access:

The SonicWire site has issues working on some browsers and in some languages. If you click on something on the site and it does not load, instead right click on that button and Open Link in New Tab, and the page will now load correctly.

because they have to appeal to normie music producers. I understand that marketing change because we don't really need to be marketed to to see & buy the products so they're trying to pull in new audiences, but we end up suffering for it with bland designs or alphabet soups/flavourless silhouettes.

Yeah her design is quite nice, and unfortunately a standout now that a lot of vocalsynth designs have gotten bland. I feel like part of it is that these companies are trying to move away from marketing to the VocalSynth community, so the designs can't be as out there as they used to be...

Yeah Yamaha's really quite slow to fix QOL issues if they ever do at all. I remember back when V5 launched and part rendering was crazy slow because it re-rendered the whole part anytime you moved or created a note and it took them like a year to fix that.

*In addition to the afotementioned, it also has barely just now with Asa begun to catch up in quality to V3 databases. It's honestly a little bit unfortunate to me that V6 has been so successful regardless because it's not providing Yamaha any incentive to make any of the very needed improvements.

That's completely understandable, honestly. 😅

Interesting! I might have to check out a trial for a newer V6 database if there is one because the reason I haven't bought V6 is the really heavy engine noise. Do you think this improvement is going to help or hurt Adachi rei when she is done though? If I were to get v6 it would be for her, mostly.

Honestly, it depends on what country you live in. The conversion rate from USD, EUR, & GBP to JPY Right now would make it to where a V6 database costs about as much as a V4 database used to. JPY is really weak right now, so nurse robo might not be too pricey if your country has a strong currency.

Ooh ummm. I would maybe hold off until there is a voice on SV2 that you really can't go without. There are some neat new editing features in SV2. However, you also lose an easy way to use manual mode, So I wouldn't say it's an essential upgrade.

You did great! They are all more than recognizable, and you did well to draw that specific design of Yixi because while she has no official character design, that one is her most popular and most recognizable fan design.

Not a lot of people know, but there are a couple different motion capture methods that have been compatible with MMD and MMM for a while.
December 6, 2025 at 2:39 PM
Yes, they have always used motion capture. It's also why the choreography in the Project Diva games from 2nd/Extend onward looks so much better because they started using motion capture instead of hand animating. Super smooth MMD animations are also mostly motion captured.

Pretty unusual to like music by Vocalsynth music composers, but not like the synth databases themselves, so you'll give people the wrong idea of what your interests are And that could over-complicate some conversations you have.
December 6, 2025 at 2:35 PM
Not really? It's fine to not like Vocaloid or vocalsynths in general but to enjoy covers of music produced by those producers, because they are often writing music outside of common genres, so it makes sense. You maybe shouldn't say to people that you like Vocaloid music though, because it's...
