As a first for me, I'm going to share some art I've made here so that I can get used to people actually seeing my stuff. Explanation of the piece is in the alt text with the description.

TITLE: Where?

The image contains a painting which is in portrait format. The background is a carefully layered color painting containing blue, purple, green, & stripes painted using beige paint. In the top left corner are several buttons (as in clothing buttons) with red accents. In the bottom right corner are similar buttons, with yellow accents. In the middle left side of the painting, there are very different looking buttons with white, red, and green accents. In the top right about a third of the way down there is a button illustrated using disparate elements from all of these buttons and some elements that are not seen in any of them. It has purple, red, green, white, and yellow accents. The buttons are all shown above and are grouped based off of the color accents. They also are in largely varying sizes. Written up the canvas from the weird button as well as down the canvas from it is the word "where" written in many languages. The color alternates between black and white for each language. This piece is a representative of the floating and ambiguous state of my identity. I don't relate to being American like the top left buttons because I don't share values with the direction the country has been going, which I've specifically indicated with the red color representing fascism and hyper-conservative ideology. I don't relate to the yellow buttons in the bottom right corner because even though I lived in Australia for a long time, I don't think I lived there long enough to claim to be one of them. The yellow is to represent aussie gold. The buttons in the middle left are taxco silver buttons from Mexico and are to represent my Mexican heritage. I don't feel connected to that either because my family grew up really whitewashed so I didn't have most of the Mexican cultural experience. What am I then? Where do I belong? What pile should my button be sorted into? What is my identity allowed to be?

Some large bird nests are visible at the top of some of the trees, and low lying clouds tangle mistilly through them. A higher peak fades into the clouds just behind the foreground, indicating how close the photographer is to the trees.

This is wisp, a neighbourhood feral cat who's the mother to 6 of the 9 cats in my family's home. She looks sweet, very photogenic here, but is not sweet at all. it's a miracle she let me get close enough to take this photo, and it's a crop in on my 2x zoom LOL
A small cat with dilute tortie patterning (desaturated splotches of browns and greys, blended together unevenly) lying in a curl shape on an office chair. The office chair, which is in the lower right third of the image, is made of black plastic and a blue jean-like fabric, which is tattered from months weather damage. Rips in the seat from cat claws reveal yellow-orange foam. The chair sits below a tree which takes up the majority of the image, with part of the chair back obscured by branches, and the wheels buried in loamy earth, with a white and baby blue wooden shed directly behind it. The diffused lighting from the clouds above intensifies the colours, but it's still evident that the day is reaching its final hours of sun. The cat gazes at the camera distrustfully, her amber eyes and battle-scarred mouth and ears warning the photographer to keep a distance, despite her relaxed appearance.

I made an art piece that looks like what my really bad headaches feel like.

an art piece made of conflicting shapes and bold colours. the left side is full of bubbles, the right side is full of squares, and the two section are divided in the middle by a swooping section of stripes, wide at the bottom and little at the top where it curves into the upper right corner. the colours are bright red, yellow, blue, and purple, with complementary colour splatters that, due to the luminosity of some of the colours, can even look grotesque in some spots. the line work is all a deep inky black, offset with a stark white layer underneath.

This is an older shot i had shared on Twitter, prior to all of its... issues. this is the centre column of a hexagon shaped house in colorado, shot on a first gen Oppo find N. i couldn't get the white values more reasonable on the skylight, sadly, so it does clip there. #oneplus #oppo #photography

The image is shot from the middle of a long underground footpath, connecting two different sides of a university. The walls are covered in various vibrant art pieces, including a butterfly bearing the word "inclusion" and a rainbow, several stylised faces with large eyes and angular features, and other abstract and representational compositions. The ceiling has spray painted swirls that look almost graffiti like, and the floors are plain concrete with a few cracks and some Leaf residue along the left wall. In the distance at the end of the tunnel is a person about to exit the other side, but they are just a silhouette due to the bright light entering the other end of the tunnel. Aside from the sunlight entering the two ends of the tunnel, it is lit by a single fluorescent bulb about halfway down on the left wall. Despite the minimal lighting the image is bright and inviting.
