the reality is that Republicans will threaten to, try to, and sometimes succeed in killing you if you oppose them. Politicians who aren't willing to take that heat shouldn't run.

It would be an enormous mistake for a future muscular liberal government to let editors off the hook. Freedom of the press is not a one-way street. A press that chooses not to defend the structures and ideology that guarantees its freedom does not deserve protection.
