Also one thing that drives me absolutely nuts about this is that for some reason people always bring up the Tuskegee Experiments, in which medical treatment was *denied*, not mandated. Like it's not even the same damn thing.
It probably feels like I shoehorn this into everything, but like... I think Kantianism is at play here again. "Forced medical treatment" is intrinsically wrong, ergo we can't mandate vaccines even though we mandate car seats, etc etc.

one thing that's funny about the academic left is how it ends up almost entirely valorizing stuff which didn't work over stuff that did because the defenses or analyses of the stuff which worked are either obvious or already published, making it all unpublishable

I'm hesitant to make this point again because I made it in 2024 and it was (seemingly) incorrect, but recalled vote weighting is not a great practice and I'm not sure if these polls are accurate.
