One CBS News staffer puts it like this to me: "We just got Elon Musked."

Can you put into words what that purpose is? You and the frog have really become icons of this protest.

There’s been a nice overall whimsy that has shown up. The frog is amazing. We had a bunch of other inflatable people here last night, too. I saw people playing Twister the other day.

What they rely on is fear. So by coming out in an absurdist manner, it speaks to them, to some extent, that we’re actually not that afraid.

It also dismantles their narrative a little bit. When they try to describe this situation as “war-torn,” it becomes much harder to take them seriously when they have to post a video saying [U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security] Kristi Noem is up on the balcony staring over the Antifa Army and it’s, like, eight journalists and five protesters and one of them is in a chicken suit.

When prices were going up under Biden there was a constant deluge of news stories about it because the media did not like Biden and wanted him to lose. Under Trump there is not a constant deluge of news stories about coffee prices because they like Trump and want him to win

In Chicago, nobody would rent an apartment without a fridge because you can always just find another apartment.

When I lived in Boston I saw a lot of fucked up units that I still considered renting because what the fuck else was I going to do?

A good law, but I've never had this problem in Chicago and the reason is housing supply.

Most of the stuff people blame on greedy evil landlords (poor maintenance, no appliances, insane broker fees) is caused by too little supply destroying renter bargaining power.

The obvious line on the shutdown for Dems is "If they're going to keep the 60 vote requirement, they need to write a bill that 7 Dem's are willing to put their name on. Either they care about gathering the consensus that the 60 vote threshold requires or they don't."

Yeah, this was in Dallas in the late 90s, but we had 4 armed men come in with real unloaded guns, and take a few of us aside. Said they were here to kill believers, and asked if we were believers. After we all said "Yes", they unmasked themselves as dads from church.

That one I think depends a lot on who you are. I think activists should be considering the effects of their argument on the people they are trying to persuade and the likelihood of a sympathetic ear winning the election
