Our national broadcaster should be reflective the whole country, not a mouthpiece for Nigel Farage.

The BBC must provide fair, balanced and representative journalism.

He is not just appeasing Putin, he is aligned with him. And every single client journalist, political shill & public/online cheerleader on both sides of the Atlantic is too. Against Zelensky. Against Ukraine. Against freedom. Against the most basic tenets of decency.

So, this is where we are.
Trump is looking to emulate Putin by taking over all areas of government and heading up a dictator-led oligarchy. 1/n

Calling Zelensky a “Dictator” must be where the line is drawn.

It is my sincere hope that the whole political spectrum in the United Kingdom will speak with one voice in opposition to Trump’s lies.

The Trump administration is trying to remake the foundations of the administrative state & democratic practice at home (through authoritarian rule) while simultaneously antagonizing its historic allies, embracing key adversaries like Russia, & disavowing its orientation to more open markets.

There'll be no deal about Ukraine without Ukraine. America has no ability to enforce it, any more than it has the right to enforce it. If it attempts to insist on one, it will be one of the most shameful moments in its history. And one of the most humiliating.
NEW: Ukraine has NOT been invited to Ukraine peace talks.

Zelenskyy to NBC just now:

“I will never accept any decisions between United States & Russia about Ukraine. Never.”

Clear message. Trump has NO mandate.

✍️ Poor coverage of Gaza at the BBC: failure of journalism

A BBC report on the ceasefire in Gaza fails to fact check Israeli violations, while obscuring key context – this isn’t journalism, it’s neglect

What’s the point in refusing citizenship to refugees who have ‘made a dangerous journey’?

What’s the point in publishing footage of people being deported?

I’m sorry to say that this is simply a continuation of the performative cruelty we saw from the Conservatives.

This is appalling. A major decision with profound implications for refugees can't even be debated in parliament. Because it's not primary or even secondary legislation it doesn't pass the attorney general's desk. Zero scrutiny. Zero accountability.
Urgent Question not granted so there will need to be other ways to debate this

It highlights the accountability gap: MPs passed a second reading of a bill which repeals a legal bar to citizenship. They have no formal powers nor any regular forum of oversight/ scrutiny of guidance changes

There are no basic standards in the modern Tory party. Not of respectability, or intellectual consistency, or mortality. So it will now say anything - anything at all - if it echoes what that madman in the White House is doing.
Kemi Badenoch's spokesman repeatedly refuses to condemn Donald Trump's Gaza plan, or repeat the Conservative party's previous support for a two state solution.

Pushed to say whether Palestinians should have a right to return to their homes, he refused to do so

Only someone with no understanding of liberal history would treat fact-checking and free speech as a binary opposition. The whole point of free speech is that it gets us closer to the truth. Where free speech has no purchase in the truth, its purpose collapses.

Last year they made £50m profit.

They are exempt from corporation and capital gains tax.

This situation is unfair and costing the country millions in lost revenue. It must not continue.
