NGC 6888 Crescent Nebula, n emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. Distance around 4700 ly. Not the best image, but quite good considering the very poor weather conditions.

A wide-field deep-space photograph of the Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888) in the constellation Cygnus. The nebula is the central focus, resembling a brain or a curved shell with intricate, filamentary structures glowing in hues of burnt orange and deep red. The surrounding space is filled with a dense field of white stars, which have been reduced in size to emphasize the nebula's detail. Faint, wispy clouds of red hydrogen-alpha nebulosity drift through the dark background, particularly in the corners of the frame.

The Flying Bat and Squid Nebula (SH2-129). I imaged this recently for 6 nights. I haven't landed on a good SHO combination for it yet, the hydrogen is just so strong in this area, but the HOO came together without a fight.

I was really excited to see the Moon on it's way to being full! We probably won't see it after tomorrow here due to weather rolling in. But that makes it that much more special to catch it out!

A black and white photo of the three quarters full Moon. It's lit face is toward the upper right. The background is darkened to enhance contrast. Visible are many craters, most are more visible toward the bottom and top 'polar' areas of the Moon. Also visible are rays of debris streaking away from prominent craters, and large dark "seas" or mare, which have a circular appearance because they are huge ancient craters themselves, that then filled with ancient lava flows when the Moon was much younger. This was the Moon on the afternoon of 30-12-25.

The interstellar #comet #3I/ATLAS is currently visible in the constellation Leo. I took this image on 14 December through my C8 with an ASI294mc Pro. 3I was brighter than I expected at the time, and numerous galaxies are also visible in the background.

The Rosette Nebula (also known as Caldwell 49) is an H II region located near one end of a giant molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way Galaxy. The open cluster NGC 2244 (Caldwell 50) is closely associated with the nebulosity, the stars of the cluster having been formed from the nebula's matter.The cluster and nebula lie at a distance of 5,000 light-years from Earth[7] and measure roughly 130 light years in diameter. The radiation from the young stars excites the atoms in the nebula, causing them to emit radiation themselves producing the emission nebula we see. The mass of the nebula is estimated to be around 10,000 solar masses.

Amazing what 1 minute and 30 seconds in time can change!
That's the time separation for these two photos in #PDX.
After the 2nd one, it was completely clouded over, for many days.
But when it clears, the view is amazing!

A night sky photo featuring many stars above an urban landscape of tree tops and a peaked roof at far lower left. Th rest of the image is all sky and stars, with the constellation Orion visible a little right of center. Jupiter is the brightest object at upper left. The star Sirius is just above some green tall hedge tops at about middle bottom. There is also some lens flaring from a bright light source at lower right, that shows across a lot of the right side of the image. The same image framing with tree tops and a peaked roof in the lower part of the image, but with advancing clouds, blurred from time exposure. Only the brightest stars (Jupiter, Sirius, and Orion) are still visible, versus the previous image full of stars in the whole sky. The elapsed time between the two images is only about 1 minute and 30 seconds.

I did a more Christmasy Christmas Tree Cluster. Sulfur-II + Hydrogen alpha = reddish orange (changed to red). Changed the oxygen-III (blue), rendering green for a holiday version. 🎄

The Christmas Tree Cluster, shot in narrowband using my Sky-Watcher Esprit 80ED refractor. I initially processed this in HOO, and then blended in SII data as a shade of green, yielding the gold color you see.
