Decided to fuck around and get Annihilated this week.
An old whitewashed lighthouse with a red roof surrounded by trees, against a blue sky My feet up on a bleached log on a pebble beach hemmed by greenery, with Lake Ontario in the background.

He hasn't signed the other bills yet, but he still has days to do so
This headline is misleading for not mentioning that.

The gender education veto is bad, but far from the most important trans rights bill on his desk.

There's still time to contact Newsom for the rest!

It is unfathomable to me that we’re all just supposed to be okay with higher energy costs and more air and light pollution, in exchange for a machine that steals personal data and copyrighted material and produces slop and wage theft, and big tech can do this to our society unilaterally.

Former FBI special agent in the bio, volunteer to get literally fucking murdered with your friends in the skeets

We’re in a moment now where it would be worth people taking three hours to watch Gandhi, particularly the scene of the salt march. There is value to making the brutality of your opponent so plain as day that no one can argue with it. The clarity of that brought down an empire

We’ve seen Halloween shit in several stores this week, and it’s still 25 degrees in Toronto.

Sincerely, I need companies to fuck off. It’s gross how they’ve decided to milk people for every penny they have for a full quarter of the year for a “religious” holiday. That’s sacrilegious if you ask me.

Super moon taken on the beach with long exposure last night at 9:00pm
The treeline meets an empty, pebbly beach on Lake Ontario. The water is very still and above the moon looks almost as big and bright as the sun.

There wont be a single TERF or Nazi banned for this, but if you point out the racism or transphobia youre being disruptive of course. We all know this fucking playbook.
bullwark.bsky.social
You can now be banned for "Being disruptive to other users" yeah thats definitely going to be enforced consistently
Part of links suspension email outlining you cant be disruptive to other users

Honestly that was one of the brightest moons I’ve ever seen even without the long exposure, it was only like handheld for 3 seconds

For those lucky enough to not know this is a neo-Nazi meme normally found on TRS and the Daily Stormer being shared by the official DHS account.

actually our AI programs are like people so its racist to say you don't like them. anyway would you like to buy one

It’s nice to think that we can, but tech CEOs have a lot more sway over politics than voters, money has entirely corrupted politics and I’m not sure that we can do anything besides refuse to use their products and hope the bubble bursts.
alexarrelia.bsky.social
And on top of all of that shit, they’re turning the internet into a dead mall.

Who even wants to be in a space full of AI slop? Not I.

Do we need to do web rings again? Do we need to go back to the ancient ways?

In countries with a surplus of green energy? Fucking go nuts, it’s silly, but what do I care. But in North America? Get the fuck out of here.

This technology is wildly, wildly unpopular and becoming less popular every day, and if nobody steps up to regulate this shit then we have truly been abandoned.

They want to fundamentally alter all of human civilization and we’re meant to simply accept that the idea of “human progress” shared among the completely out of touch billionaire class is not just an inevitability, but the optimal and most desirable outcome.

Like…come the fuck on. This is madness.

This is fucking unhinged. They aren’t even pretending that they’re companies anymore, Big Tech is something else now, entities that feel entitled to point the way and dictate to consumers how our society will operate from now on, and the sacrifices they’re asking for are obviously absurd.

Of course there are exceptions, please don’t @ me about the exceptions, it’s just that two of the three best books I read this year were both written in the early 90s

One thing I’ll say about most contemporary fiction is that prose has gotten infinitely blander, and in a way that feels less like a stylistic choice and more like a frustrating lack of adventurousness.
