🚨See federal agents in LA County? Call both of these numbers immediately to notify the rapid response networks.

🗽Save America Movement: (213) 379-991🎱
🇲🇽Union del Barrio: (213) 444-656✌️

Repost to help make California hell for ICE agents. 🌴

Yeah maybe in some places. But in Southern California?? It was like 56°f the other day and also I got spritzed by mist. Sorry buddy, but walkability is not going to work here.

Imagine what it would mean to use Zohran's new $730 million (to offset MTA bus fare revenue) mystery funding source to boost service instead of deleting the fares that most passengers are happy to pay.
zohrankmamdani.bsky.social
I'm on the slowest bus line in the city with the slowest buses in the nation to talk to New Yorkers about what it would mean for their lives if we made them fast and free.
Zohran sits on a bus talking to a rider sitting behind him.

Urbanism is so successful, highway engineers now have to build in *secret* hidden lanes like it's the Piața Romană metro station.

Caltrans has released a cross section for the ultimate (raised viaduct) version of SR-37.

Now maybe I'm just being paranoid, but if you were building a road that you planned to keep at 4 lanes wide, I don't think it would look like this.
Cross section of 114' wide bridge structure with each direction having a 12' outside shoulder and a 10' inside shoulder.

Awesome! I'll write it later tonight.

By the way, the deviated scheduled service I'm proposing would also use the same mini bus.
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
to the email and have it be from all of us to give it more oomph?

By the way, I've already been able to get a couple small changes to Bus Revolution using this exact method.

Lmk, and I can show you all the email before I send it.
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
This will be such a catastrophic elimination of ridership on this corridor that I think I want to write an email to Dan Nemiroff politely suggesting a last minute pivot to a deviated, scheduled service. @bensh3.bsky.social @milesintransit.com @awildschild.bsky.social, want to sign on
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
If I had stayed at West Chester University, this is definitely something I would have worked on. Because WCU already runs a timed shuttle to Exton. They could have given that money to SEPTA, added some more hours to the schedule and had a really good service for the whole town.
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
Yeah, that's a great idea. It could be like the CDTA connector service that is timed for Amtrak departures to NYC.
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
Yeah, it's currently 2. The current schedule works okay as a RR feeder. Once it's microtransited, that goes out the window. You have no way of knowing if that one van will reach the train in time on the way inbound, and outbound, you could be waiting an hour for it to mosey back over from Telford.
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
Yeah, except it's useless because there's no schedule. So there's no way to know whether it will be on your end of the tube or the other end before you request it.

This is why I'm proposing SEPTA launch a deviated fixed route service called "Go... Up to 1/2 mile"
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
I predict this microtransit zone will GO badly.
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
That's really funny.

Guys, the people stupid enough to take a sentence like that at face value are mostly not going on these government websites.
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
We're so mad at ourselves for losing the 2024 election, we haven't noticed how badly Republicans are fumbling the shutdown messaging.

For instance, instead of just letting someone write a marginally convincing sounding website banner, they appear to have connected the API directly to Truth Social.
Banner on USDA website:

Due to the Radical Left Democrat shutdown, this government website will not be updated during the funding lapse. President Trump has made it clear he wants to keep the government open and support those who feed, fuel, and clothe the American people.

At my previous job, a coworker said "I grew up in LA, so I know not to ride Metro."
zombiegomoan.bsky.social
You’re kinda cringe if you’ve never even TRIED to use LA Metro (or any other transit agency). Like it’s one thing to try it once and conclude the schedules don’t work for your needs or to leave w/ safety concerns. But to just never even try it is lame and cringe!
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
The FTA caps *mandated* paratransit fares at no more than twice the agency's standard base fare. (Only near existing non-commuter routes, dial-a-ride, etc).

But Access-on-demand is a service that exceeds the federal mandate standards, so they're exempt from the cap. Aka, it's a premium service.
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
Excuse me. I said a park-and-ride, not a park-and-walk-and-ride! Across the street will not do.
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
Hmmm. I definitely don't want to blow their cover, but I haven't revealed anything here about their activities that isn't already public.

Other than maybe the animosity with SAM, but that ship is already sailed. Once inside SAM, I'm going to see if I can help them to mend relations with CSDC.
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
Welp, so I guess I'm joining SAM now. But it's upsetting to see two groups with the same goal (disrupt ICE operations to the maximum extent legal) not work together because one's all 🇺🇸🦅🗽🎆🫡 and the other is all 🌹✊🍉🔥🇲🇽. We're dividing ourselves over what's basically aesthetics. We can't win like this.
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
The most depressing part is that there's another group doing this same work called the Save America Movement. But instead of coordinating, I heard CSDC leaders refer to SAM as a "co-optation" who's "not committed to anti-capitalist decolonial struggle"🤦 and "in bed with the Democratic party". *gasp*

So last week, I went to another Community Self-Defense Coalition meeting. This lady who runs one of the rapid response groups in KTown said to meet her group at a street corner at 8:00 am the next morning. I stood there for like half an hour.

She never frickin showed up!
alexdavistransit.bsky.social
I went to a meeting months ago and talked to an organizer afterward who added me on Signal and said he would onboard me later. I sent a lot of follow-up messages, but he never responded.
