In Mario Kart 8/Deluxe, the Tanooki Mario design on the back of the Leaf Cup trophy is neither modeled nor textured, and is actually entirely a trick of the light. The game uses only lighting to create the design while the trophy is smooth and blank.

CONFIRMED: Nintendo Switch 2 cases will no longer feature red spines and instead it looks like the box art wraps around
