Our best-selling book celebrates diversity & explains evolutionary adaptations along with messages on conservation & respecting difference, in a fun way.

Worth a look if you think your kids (ages 4-9) will enjoy learning about interesting animal characters that stand out for their weirdness.

Winter Sleep was my first published children’s book, 1 of 4 in our Seasons in the Wild narrative science story series exploring natural history.

It was long-listed for the Kate Greenaway Medal & is recommmended to primary schools by the literacy charity @clpe.org.uk & it’s been on the curriculum.

Contact @mammalsocietyyouth.bsky.social if you are keen to get outside and help look for harvest mice nests.
Surveys do not take long and no experience or kit is needed.
You get free training.

Harvest mice are on the Red List. We do not know how many remain, or where to focus conservation efforts.
So the Mammal Society runs an annual National Harvest Mouse Survey, Oct - March.

Volunteers go looking for their nests, so that sites can be protected & managed in the right way.
