Just resharing my open access review of Judith Butler’s latest book, Who’s Afraid of Gender? Their book is so important in analysing and communicating how gender figures in our present political moment - one of rising right-wing authoritarianism.

Well she is ahead of me. I was 12. 😊

The media framing of “free speech” is so ridiculous that now people boycotting someone because of their bigoted views (ie exercising their freedom of speech to disassociate) is seen as “cancelling” while the state locking up people who dare to protest genocide generates limited to no media outrage.

The BBC News website has pages & pages of coverage related to farmers protesting inheritance tax, including events where only a few hundred turn out.

In London yesterday 100,000 people marched for trans rights, and nothing.

Imagine if it was 100,000 anti immigrant activists, they'd cover that.

At least the Irish news media will actually report on the significance of numbers attending London Trans+ Pride today.

Apart from the Guardian, NO OTHER MAINSTREAM NEWSPAPER has reported on the 100,000 people who marched in London IN SUPPORT of trans people today! 😖

Looking across the papers today, anti-trans rights commentators and politicians also seem to be the ones opposing making abortion legal. It shouldn’t be a shock to anyone - they’re against bodily autonomy. For everyone.
Shabana Mahmood is opposed to two amendments to the crime bill on abortion and Wes Streeting may also vote against them

Non-feminist and increasingly unhinged Torygraph reports that non-feminist campaigners accuse the Quakers (a religious group standing up to power for hundreds of years often at great personal cost) of undermining their legacy cos they support trans ppl.

This is very true. As scrutiny and paranoia build, signs of ‘maleness’ will multiply.

Great article, Sarah. Thank you for writing it. The fight is emotionally draining but necessary. x
