Also, you'll see this is a screenshot by a video from a guy named David Medina. Medina was convicted for his role in the Jan. 6 insurrection and was later pardoned by Trump. He has since rebranded himself as a Trump-aligned social media influencer.

(Sorry I deleted the earlier post, I misspelled Burgerville -- a crime.)

Apropos of nothing, Sec. Kristi Noem is currently praying over Burgerville with Portland ICE officials.

Noem has with her right-wing social media personalities David Medina, Benny Johnson and Nick Sortor (who was arrested for fighting outside the ICE facility, Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office not pursuing charges). No news conference or opportunity for press to ask questions.

Noem appears to have arrived? Not sure how long we’ll be blocked from the street outside ICE processing facility. I can say unequivocally she did not witness anything she claims is happening at this facility, as she entered the facility…

“When a Guardian reporter pointed out on social media that the image was not a genuine photograph of the generally small & tame protests outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office in Portland, the Oregon Republican Party’s X account replied: ‘We’re not reporters, just bad memers.‘”

The Oregon Republican Party tried to help Donald Trump make the case for military intervention in Portland with an image of a fiery protest — but since Portland is calm, they had to fabricate one by merging old photos of police in Ecuador and protesters in Brazil www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Judge Karin Immergut’s ruling capped a dramatic weekend that included President Trump sending California National Guard members to Oregon and ordering others from Texas.

Two things felt different to the ppl I spoke with who’d been protesting at the ICE building for months.

1st was the sheer volume of tear gas, pepper balls and flash-bangs used, seemingly unprovoked.

2nd was seeing so many videographers/live-streamers embedded with the feds as they marched out.

Hours after a federal judge paused the Trump administration’s plans to deploy 200 members of the Oregon National Guard to Portland, federal law enforcement officers escalated the tactics used on protesters in the city.

Not only does this story get a number of basic facts wrong, it doesn’t take time to actually explore why Portlanders elected these folks. Coming in with a pre-baked PDX story to fit a NYT narrative about NYC is harmful, especially at this moment.

Let's talk a bit about the broader context of the DOJ's newly announced investigation of the Portland Police's arrest of "conservative" influencer Nick Sortor. For context, Sortor is one of over a dozen far right "citizen journalists" who has come to Portland. www.cnn.com/2025/10/03/u...

In 2020, Oregon sued Tom Dundon’s former company for allegedly preying on Oregonians through high-interest car loans they couldn’t afford in a case involving more than 265,000 borrowers nationwide. In this OPB/Propublica investigation, learn how Dundon built his fortune on subprime lending.

When Tom Dundon agreed to buy the team, there was no public discussion locally about the fact that Dundon created a company Oregon accused in 2020 of preying on residents through high-interest car loans they couldn’t afford.
