I almost forgot to tag off my Clipper at Redwood City Caltrain!

I did BART+Muni+Caltrain to get from home to Redwood City for the Move Bay Area West Bay Summit.

I never waited more than 10 minutes for a train and didn’t sit in traffic.

This is how I roll. I show up for others to promote the greater transit story in the Bay Area. It isn’t just about telling BART’s story but the industry in general and its role in the Bay Area’s ability to move people and keep the economy thriving.

When I learned of this the night before their store opening. I knew exactly what needed to be done and who to call. Thank you @renzaro.com

Well, this is awkward 😐 Did you see the @Baggu “collab”?  You may have seen BART’s branding on baggu products recently but there was one big problem—we didn’t know about it.

This was a good time.

Our trip spanned three Bay Area counties and several forms of transit. We loved spending time with riders and fellow transit agencies.

We’re proud we're ending Transit Month strong and we hope to see you all again soon! 👋

Bill deadline day!!!

SB 63 (the Bay Area Transit funding bill) will need to go to the Assembly floor, Senate Transportation Committee where BART will provide lead testimony, then the Senate Floor.

I know you do. It is important for me to see rants, especially from trusted sources who don’t have an agenda. It keeps me motivated to continue to fight the good fight and make sure executives know things need work.
aliciatrost.bsky.social
I’m so sorry. We are working to speed them up and I’m told they will be faster after the full roll out of the next generation of clipper. Missing your Caltrain connection is a big deal!

No service cuts needed yet.

The loan has always been essential for helping after the ballot measure but before the sales tax revenues flow.

SB 105 directs the Dept of Finance to work in consultation with CalSTA to examine loan or other financing options for agencies, with the goal to complete this work by 1/10/26 allowing for proposals to be included in the Governor’s FY27 Budget and legislative action in early 2026.

California transit loan bill watch.

🚨 SB 105 🚨

Despite some misleading headlines there is now legislation that expresses everyone’s intention to work out the terms of a state loan for transit agencies such as BART.

When we played the video of each BART line from the train operator’s point of view and the train reached Concord Station, the crowd cheered and clapped.

I met grandparents who brought their grandchildren so mom and dad could have a date night. Teenagers came in groups and enjoyed a cheap night out.

Our goal was to host local families from the neighborhood surrounding the Concord Station. Building community though local engagement.

When I saw families arriving with kids in wagons and strollers I was overjoyed. They didn’t need a car to attend. They walked over.

What a beautiful night under the stars ✨✨ with so many local families!

Families from across the Bay came out for BART’s first 🍿 movie night ever tonight.

I’m leaning into fandom culture as a communication, engagement and public relations strategy.

🚨 Calling all artists! 🚨

BART is looking for artists of all skills, styles, and mediums to sell their work at our upcoming Let’s Glow! BART Anime Festival on September 6 @ Warm Springs/South Fremont Station.
Promotional image for Let's Glow! BART Anime Festival featuring two anime characters, one resembling a blue-haired person and another shaped like a BART train, with text announcing the event at Warm Springs/South Fremont Station on September 6, 2025, from 4:30 to 8 PM.

Beyond the fact wBART was rejected and the board has prioritized maintaining the core, Solano County is not BART of the BART district and does not pay into it. There is also an expensive body of water in the way.

The time has arrived. @rebeccaforec.bsky.social do you remember when you tried to help me allow us to publish videos of each BART line from the train operator point of view?
We finally did it and plan to screen the video this Saturday at Concord Station.
A 2019 Twitter exchange between Alicia Trost and Rebecca Saltzman. Rebecca’s asks Alicia “what do you think?” Alicia replies with “Ha! We did and then the security committee wouldn’t let us post them. We just about cried.”

The hustle is real.

In the next two weeks, we are hosting three press conferences and one huge weekend community event.

Transit is about building community and this level of engagement is necessary to capture attention and bring joy during uncertain times.
aliciatrost.bsky.social
I’ve organized a Big Sync press conference for Monday to get the word out about our coordinated efforts.

And there is a joint press release that tells the story.

Thank you for giving voice to this!

Embrace the fun when it is not threatening.

Brands (especially in the public sector) need to be given permission to be authentic and engaging.

Rules are important but there is a way to respond to something without immediately leading with enforcement.

I've always been a fan of BART's comms. they're friendly, open, and fun.

day and night when compared to our TTC spokesperson who seems to hate anything that is fun, and has a special kink for scolding people 💀
article screenshot, with a photo of a bart train.

content: SFGATE reached out to the accounts who posted videos but did not hear back in time for publication. However, a BART spokesperson was happy to comment on the videos.

“We think this clever, fun and engaging,” Alicia Trost told SFGATE via email. “We love it. Videos like this showcase our clean and safe system and that riding BART is fun.”

Something I am very proud of.

We need comms teams to be as unafraid as BART’s.
