The improvised response at 2:08 is remarkable.

No one in the political life of the UK is anywhere near as impressive as this … or as threatening.

She called out world leaders for sitting by and watching a live-streamed genocide without taking action.

Thank you that's so kind. Any real on the ground information would be brilliant. I might have to do a scouting trip with Himself first 😉😇

@frankrennie.bsky.social @alastairmci.bsky.social I'm "helping" to plan a special trip to Lewis and Harris next year with my school friends to mark our 70th, any hints for the best time, places to visit etc?

@frankrennie.bsky.social any chance of a pdf of the whole article?
Reasons being that I've lost part 1 and I'd also like to pass it on to a select couple of folk who have a green laird as a neighbour 😉

An excellent article in The Crofter by Frank Rennie @frankrennie.bsky.social As well, I did enjoy the remark about the hedge funders who wouldn't recognise a Texel tup from a tractor 👌

By way of context, Grangemouth’s closure was 400 direct job losses.

1800 is … a lot.

In all truth, I cannot tell you what it will mean to cut 1,800 people from the university because there is simply a lack of information or accountability. But, staff and students did not get us here (wherever we are!?) and don't deserve to pay with the careers or quality of education.

Rayner is absolute class. She's been a bit silly in organising her taxes, but that's not why they hate her. They hate her because she did not know her place.

Generous & important insight into chronic illness & human resilience:

"I found one path back to belonging was using the meanings of place-names – words reflecting the sense of belonging of those who once dwelled in a place. So, this is a discussion of how, as disabled people, we heal belonging."

"In 2022, the country launched an ambitious strategy to become the world’s first digital nation. This initiative includes 3D scanning its islands to digitally re-create them and preserve their cultural heritage, as well as moving government functions to a virtual environment."

1/2 I'm reminded of the "Tree of Life". In the Eden, the tree is ambiguous. It is perhaps a survival of the ritual poles dedicated to the goddess Asherah. The Yahwehist writer couldn't give the goddess her due. In Proverbs however, the Tree of Life returns as a symbol of feminine life-giving wisdom.

Another news article that forgets to point out that honeybees are domesticated creatures

& are as threatened by habitat loss & climate change as cows & sheep

Scientists make 'superfood' that could save honeybees
We rely on honeybees to pollinate our crops and a new food could protect them from growing threats.

A shocking press conference in Anchorage ending the summit. No agreement on peace or #Ukraine. The war will go on. But we learned that Trump and Putin are best buddies and their economic and trade relationship will go on. Overall a big day for Putin. And a terrible one for peace and democracy.

Research does not exist unless it is published

And peer reviewed rather than reports or blogs

People need to see the outcomes of research in the public domain

This is not publish or perish. It is publish or squander

Liz Truss has somehow managed to be more embarrassing to Britain after leaving office than she was in office, which is an… achievement.
