The dichotomy of Dungeon Crawler Carl. One minute you're laughing at a giant dinosaur that wants to be a ballerina, or being grossed out by the death of a vampire pterodactyl, then suddenly you get hit by this kind of insight into the experience of trauma.

So I guess I don't have direct messages anymore? Given that the age verification service is done by a company called KWS - Kids Web Services - and the options are sharing my ID, making a small payment, or using a face scan by a different company...I think I'll pass.

I was dubious about adding this little packet to my ramen (tiny bonus packets have a tendency to burniness), but who can resist a little sprinkle of spite?

Turned out to be pretty good, actually. Just a little spice and salt.

So I'm watching 7:30, an Australian current affairs show, and getting annoyed about what they're saying about kids and phone use, when suddenly, I hear a familiar name...
@jessecox.bsky.social - do you have family in Australia??

Exciting news about my prawn burgers!

Back in March I bought a cheap set of over the shoulder speakers from aliexpress. Still one of the best purchases I've made in ages. Short-listed alongside the dishwasher safe, non-stick cookware I've been picking up lately. Makes me much more likely to cook!

Is Hallucigenia the species that Angelica of the Shore, Johnny Storm's alternate timeline girlfriend, is based on?

Smells seafoody. I can see why the bears are into it.

I've only recently learnt, after years of eating instant noodles, that the approved technique in Japan is often cooking noodles in plain water, putting the seasoning in your bowl, pouring out the noodle water into the bowl, stirring, and then finally adding the noodles.

My ramen is favoured by polar bears, apparently.

Louisa May Alcott had Opinions about this. The end of Jo's Boys has a charming jab at her fans (who she'd already made fun of by making Jo an author and then writing about fans visiting her).

Because the weather has been cold, I've been taking lunches that I can heat up in the car. This mostly involves ordering Japanese ramen from online import stores.
Two orders arrived in quick succession this week. I have SO MANY options for tomorrow 😂

Tried Roast Goose flavoured chips today. Not bad! As with all these things, it's basically just foodstuff flavoured with the same things we'd use on other foodstuff, so funnily enough, the flavour of the goose itself is probably missing.
