I've started Somali, Ojibwe, Irish, German, and Spanish. You could argue I'm missing some polish✨ on my Western Armenian. Despite reaching fluency in several languages, these are sitting on my proverbial shelf.

This month, we were thrilled to see a learner who is only 7 months into his journey get a paying job teaching alongside a fluent elder! Elders taught me to think more often in #regenerative circles, and question hierarchies and linear systems, which are often exclusive and competitive.

If we're revitalizing languages in order to ensure that culture survives, culture can't be some separate side topic that we cover when we get around it. Translating curriculum that's grounded in colonial school systems perpetuates their authoritarian, alienating worldview.
