Definitely a move I’d like to see. Alderete would offer a huge amount moving up and down the left wing. He’s a proper Rolls Royce, Bentley, Ferrari all rolled into one.

Xhaka must be one of the best signings anywhere. His influence immense. Is there anyone in the squad who can offer what he does if he’s injured or suspended?

This team just NEVER gives up. Team spirit in bucket loads! #SAFC #TilTheEnd

With much debate about journalists favouring Twitter over Bluesky, full respect to Phil Smith at the Sunderland Echo. He’s really good at using Bluesky, and for obvious reasons, he’s a great source of reliable news about #SAFC #Sunlun

Certainly an issue, wish the club and the Echo, Northern Echo, etc, would make Bluesky their main platform and not an afterthought. Do wonder though, if in doing that, some of the people who make Twitter unpleasant would migrate as well!

Twitter has become a real festering sore, hadn’t it. The more of us who use Bluesky the better. #SAFC

I also went back on during the transfer window. Journos Phil Smith, Scott Wilson and Dom Shaw regularly post on Bluesky, though James Copley doesn’t seem to use it anymore. Would be better if they all used it rather than Twitter, but SAFC fans are really engaged on Bluesky which is a huge positive.

Totally agree with you. Thought he looked good, and with Diarra likely to miss a few games, he should get his chance. The upside of him being hooked was Ballard’s performance. What a player he is. #SAFC

Yes, was just thinking that myself. Probably the only way to play all three without reverting to a back five.

Do you think Regis has to find a way of playing Mukiele, Alderete and Ballard in the same line-up? The three of them were immense today.
allangormley.bsky.social
Great challenge for Regis now, he simply has to play Mukiele, Alderete and Ballard in the same team. They are absolutely brilliant #Sunlun #SAFC

Got to be pleased with the point. This side is full of passion and never stops. Ballard scared Villa every time we had a set piece, and Mukiele is off-the-scale brilliant. #SAFC #TilTheEnd

‘Suck the soul out of someone.’
A great description - that’s exactly what it does.
allangormley.bsky.social
Totally agree. Possibly the most talented footballer I’ve watched play.

Thanks. Found that really helpful. Think I might understand a bit more now!

The need for news during the transfer window made me look at ‘the other side’. It’s truly awful, so much bigotry and attempts by really unpleasant people to influence opinion. Just wish more of the really top quality #SAFC journalists would make more use of Bluesky.

Excellent article by Phil Smith in the Echo about Patrick Roberts’ legacy. A story of mutual respect between club, player and fans. Give it a read.

My feelings as well. A top player whose talent on the pitch significantly contributed to two promotions. Really wish him well.

The irony of the Isak/Wissa situation is totally lost on the mags! Hilarious!
allangormley.bsky.social
A great read, making clear not just the scale of what has happened, but why it was necessary. Mind, disappointed that Patrick Roberts has gone!

Patrick Roberts to Birmingham. That leaves an empty feeling. Love him as a player, and we wouldn’t have got to the Premier League without him. Wish him well, and consoling myself it’s only a loan, so he could return at some point #EndOfAnEra #Sunlun

So, it’s finally deadline day. Exciting is an understatement. Long day for the #SAFC journos today. Going to be looking at Bluesky a lot, really trying hard to avoid the cesspit for news today.

So, Marc Guiu is heading back to Chelsea. What can I say, bizarre on Chelsea’s part? They were happy to loan him out for a season, now they can’t cope without him. Will go down as one of strangest transfers of the season. #TilTheEnd #SAFC
